I referee a few sports, and it pains me to see how much everyone hates refs, no matter what sport, league, or country they’re in. Even comedians like Will Ferrell are wearing full referee uniforms to mock us.
It really sucks when as a referee you have to go into every game with an “us vs. the world” mentality with the rest of your crew because it makes us seem very egotistical, but it’s what we have to do when literally everyone at a sporting event besides your partner(s) is against you from the very start.
Will trying to talk and watch the game sounds like a typical player umming and ahhing.
