Players with NMCs move literally all the time, Allan
SedentaryRhino
Trading Hronek would be a huge mistake.
phantomgiratina
If management sees an offer for hronek that they like, then they will hronek to waive him NMC
OptimusPrav1
Im okay with that. Hronek is our best player. He could play an important role in the development of the young players. Add some stability to the back end. That being said, every player has a price. I wouldn’t say he’s untouchable.
Warm_Masterpiece3940
He’s going to be good for a long time, he works hard off the ice and is the only vet bringing a standard of play this year. His footspeed and hockey IQ also suggest he’s going to be fine on the back half of his career unless injuries start to chip away
Shermander
Just ask Hronek if he wants to leave. His career his choice.
We’re already pretty bad. If he wants to be bad with us whatever I guess.

Allan Walsh is lying through his teeth so hard, that I can see he wears dentures.
Stunning_Contest_406
Happy to have Hronek around. In no rush to deal him.
With that said I am always interested in the difference in mindsets between players. Some want to leave for a competitive team as soon as the word rebuild is uttered, or leave in anticipation of one. Others commit to the team even when they see their prime will be spent rebuilding. Of course nobody wants to pack up and move. But you have to either be pretty committed or pretty laid back to be uninterested in even exploring a trade off a 32nd place team.
Pyrokid113
The most important decisions coming up will be who we see as valuable veteran leadership on and off the ice through our rebuild. I think it’s imperative we don’t put players on the market that can help guide and develop our prospects.

Ugh this is such a depressing time to be a Canucks fan

People seem to think Buium, a first overall, and cootes is a new “core”
even if they hit their upside, it’s fucking not.

Walsh is full of hot air at the best of times, his word doesn’t really mean much publicly

A top pairing rhd under 8mil? With what the cap is going to be in the next couple years? Why would we trade him?

I think u listen on everyone if your the Canucks. And you for sure trade anyone 28 or older if the price is right. This is going to be a 3-4 or 5 year ordeal. Also this is why NMC or NTC should not just be given to anyone.. theres maybe 20-25 players in the whole league that deserve them. And those are the superstars and or a aging superstar like the Crosbys of the league.
OkKnowledge846
Not everything needs to be done at once. Unless really good value don’t trade him yet. Realistically, this team is under a realistic scenario 3-5 years from being a consistent playoff team and I’m being generous. So get some young prospects and picks now; get some at around the draft; get some next trade deadline; get some at draft 2027 and so on. Also will give to assess prospects and see what they have and what they need.

DO NOT TRADE FIL!
Alert-Parking5931
He’s the only vet on the back end I want to keep lol. Marcus Pettersson can go for a third round pick at this point
Forsaken-Dragonfly-5
For everyone saying that Walsh is full of it, you may be right but most likely are not. It seems once again like a case of hearing what you want to hear. This is a representative of Fil going public that he is not available for trade.
I see this as really positive. A player of his talent, and leadership, on a great contract who wants to be here. No matter where a team is in its building process that is the type of players who should need and want around. Huge for the organization.

The threads on here are getting awfully repetitive.
We all agree we need some veterans to insulate the young players but you can’t rebuild by trading only your bad veterans.
The major questions we have to ask with every veteran is.
– Is the player currently at their peak value ?
– Is their usefulness after the rebuild is over surpass the return we would get now ?
Hronek is potentially at peak value but keeping him doesn’t sound too bad if he can sustain or even be close to this level of play in 3-4 years. I think the safest choice would be to see in year 2 of the rebuild where we are at and than decide. If the rebuild is going well and we can be competitive by year 3-4 keeping him makes sense if not most certainly trade him.
PaperweightCoaster
He’s not leaving until he leaves. Duh.
Only-Nature7410
I guess when he does decide to leave he won’t remember leaving.

I’m surprised anyone wants to stay. Or maybe playing for the Canucks, isn’t as bad as Reddit makes it sound.
