Money Puck loves the Canes so take it with a grain of salt.
That being said, they’re clearly one of the better teams in the conference despite going through a lot. Betting against them making the playoffs is a little crazy.
After the Blues out of nowhere run to the Cup and the whole « Wild Card 1st Round Chaos » thing we’ve seen in recent memory if a team makes the Playoffs you can’t write off the possibility of them winning anymore. I think the days when the Wild Card spots especially were basically seen as a consolation prize where you were just gonna get fed to a « real » contender and bounced in the 1st round (which WAS the popular mentality for a long time after the Wild Card concept was introduced to the League) no longer holds true. NHL level hockey has reached a level of parity where making the playoffs gives you a non-insane, could still be small, could still be a long shot, but not INSANE, chance at winning the Cup.
Once you get to the Final Four… you really can’t argue that there isn’t a decent, sane, reasonable argument to be made why any of those four teams SHOULD win the Cup.
That’s why « Durrr you get bounced in the Finals » trying to be turned into some kind of ultimate insults against us has baffled me.

All I see is the chance for the Disaster Cup Finals.

Tampa being favorited to win the cup feels off
My two cents only, for what it’s worth.
