Well I’m wondering if this changes with Luke’s injury. Maybe it’s revisited in the offseason.
The entire purpose of this from the Devils standpoint should be to shed cap space. So retaining anything has to be a nonstarter, no?
With Luke’s injury, the only way Hamilton gets traded is if the Devils get a legitimate return. Otherwise there is no point in cap dumping this season.
With Luke’s injury the only move should be to retain him for the year and revisit this trade in the offseason. If we keep him until July 1 we pay out his bonus and the actual salary hit for him is only $1m. That’ll make a full cap dump trade much more palatable to a potential suitor.
Hamilton’s trade value just increased since we don’t have a logjam on D anymore and can be more patient for a better return
The can’t trade Dougie now or they’ll have zero offense from the backend
Toronto is definitely the type of stupid team to take doggy in his contract with that being said I will pick him up from the airport and drive them to Toronto personally
There is no log jam at LD. i would trade dougie for a 3C + a good enough LD. Remember last year we got dumo could fitzy doing that again. i rather not play a RD on their off hand. So dont move dougie cuz of Jack. ight Palat is gone then still doesnt change the fact we need to move cap.
Just trade him. The chemistry of the team is already screwed. Why not try to get something for a « capable » asset? The season is basically a wash 🤷♂️
