@Ligue nationale de hockey

Qui est votre choix de mi-saison pour les Norris en ce moment ? Personnellement, je pense que Werenski est le favori, mais ce sera évidemment une course serrée avec Makar, Hutson, Hughes et lui qui joueront tous à merveille cette année.

Would love to see werenski get some recognition but it’s close between them.

  2. Vinnycheese34

Is Hughes really having an “amazing” year though?

  3. BMBenzo

Think you have to lean Zach here. He’s doing just as much with significantly less than makar.

  4. octobersons

It’s Werenski for me, putting up the big points, leading in goals, and playing less time per game on the PP than anyone else in the top 10.

  5. seanofkelley

Makar. It’s a boring answer but he’s still the best.

  6. MrB1P92

Honestly, jf CBJ makes it in, he needs the Hart more than the Norris.

  7. fivemagicks

Too bad he’s in Columbus (not shitting on them, btw). He may not get the recognition he deserves because of this. Small market overshadowed by the Buckeyes.

don’t get pissy because i’m genuine when i ask this ..

has the definition of ‘best defenceman’ changed? this generation’s norris favourites seem to be ‘most point producing defenceman’ instead of ‘shut down play’ like defenceman should be. lidstrom, chelios, chara, pronger, stevens, etc.

  9. noviander

That’s Zach “I love being a Blue Jacket” Werenski to you, buddy

  10. Mission_Disaster2

Can we give Mo Seider some love. Obviously he wont win but top 4-5 at least?

  11. gurido1

Makar is the fav but I would choose Werenski 100%

  12. Mr__JimLahey

Makar is the best but Werenski is probably the most valuable to the team as an individual.

  13. AmeriCanada98

Moritz Seider has been analytically one of if not the best defensive defenseman while also scoring at a respectable pace. Gotta at least get consideration id think

  14. One_Cantaloupe_9522

What suddenly changed to this guy that he is now a point per game player in the last two seasons?

  15. HappyChilmore

Werenski is one of the worst for giveaways/60 at 5v5: 4.16

  16. The writers will always say it is regular season only and nothing to do with playoffs…but I think it will probably come down to that if it’s this tight. If CBJ makes the playoffs and he continues this strong, there’s a solid case. Otherwise it’s basically guaranteed Makar. I could see there being an argument for Hutson if MTL really crushes the back half of the season and steamrolls into the playoffs….but even then, I don’t think Hutson carries anywhere near as much of a workload as guys like Makar/Werenski.

  17. North__North

Who would’ve thought the defensive player award they have to add is for the best defensive player

  18. GsGenesis

Werenski has been great this year, somewhat surprised that Makar is so ahead in the betting odds. Especially since MacKinnon, Nelson, and Necas (honorable mention to Malinski and Burns) have been the real standouts this year. It’s just been business as usual for Makar, rather than a stand out season.

We need another award for offensive defenceman. Shut down guys like Slavin will never get their flowers (officially) while the league is so deadset on awarding the Norris to the defenceman with the most points.

  20. Pretty_Sharp

Darren Raddysh. 42 points in 41 games, +19

  21. rival_22

Makar is probably the best defenseman, but the fact that Werenski is putting up these numbers with *that* team is amazing.

  22. TheRealOgMark

Makar, but my Canadiens fan heart would like Hutson to go ballistic even more.

  23. Jon-Robb

Hutson and if it’s not it’s a fucking shame.

    Kidding, Makar

  24. antiheropaddy

I’d choose the best defenseman, Seider.

  25. I’d like to make Darren Raddysh an honourable mention for somehow being one point behind Quinn Hughes with 3 less games played.

  26. Telemachus70

Ill need some Mo Seider, please. Its perfect this time of year.

  27. chikin-negut

    Whoever has most points, unfortunately

  28. DarkHeroes5

If Ottawa had better goaltending this year Sanderson should be up there for discussion as well.

But yes another Norris for Makar probably

  29. 1whoknu

The new reality in the league is the bar for defensemen is now to also be good offensively.

And, of course it is Makar. He is good on both sides. I know people will dispute he is good defensively but they rarely show highlights of his defensive play and stats are not good at measuring it so the majority of fans don’t see that side.

  30. Inner-Sink8420

I would also add Bouchard to list!

  31. ToastGhost47

I’ve got Nick Seeler rounding out the top 5.

  32. machined1990

Yup. Werenski. Then Makar. Then Hutson.

  33. thehockeytownguru

Future Red Wing Zach Werenski? Good choice. I think Mo Seider is also a strong candidate. Should be awards for Offensive Defenseman and Defensive Defenseman.
