@Devils du New Jersey

A lot of people move for work, he could have become a fan while away from home or he moved away from home. I’m a Preds fan in NY/NJ because I was living in Nashville for work for a decade and got into hockey there. It’s pretty common!

I feel bad for them because they have to struggle away from the team and main bulk of the fanbase in the tri state. At least when I go to the Dwayne Johnson I am reminded of the thousands of others who suffer with me

I went to my first Devils road game in November vs Anahiem. There were a decent amount of Devils fans there but it was so weird being an away fan for once.

Someone send that man some Pork Roll if he’s an Edmonton local

I have 3 friends that moved to Whitefish, MT (separately) and they always try to make the drive up to Calgary to catch the Devils live.

I was in Wyoming back in July and I had a red NJ Devils t shirt on and someone dude stopped my to ask if I was from NJ too

Could’ve been a kid growing up around the 3 cups and jumped on.

Could’ve been a kid when the new team started and wanted to join them.

There’s a whole bunch of reasons why fandom spreads. I’m a Carolina Panthers fan living in NJ.

living in Toronto, I’m frequently the lone NJ fan at bars downtown but the one time I bought tickets to a game, I was somehow seated beside a family from NJ who travelled just for the game

I go to their games when they’re in St Louis cuz I’m stuck in Missouri, so that guy is me sometimes XD

I feel like we travel really well for a “small market” team.

Are you from Joisey? I’m from Joisey!

Canadian Devils fan here. Never met another Devils fan in person in my entire life.

  14. Weigard

I tell people it’s because NJ is very dense so a lot of us just get squeezed out and land in random places.

At first I thought this dude was wearing a Sundstrom jersey, but I suppose its more likely a Kovalchuk.

  16. Sam_Winsor

I’m a devils fan from Canada. I have no personal connections with NJ

  17. ajgedrys

I’m a Pittsburgh Devils fan, dad is from Jersey. We usually get a solid turnout at games here.

I’m a devils fan in Kansas (from eastern PA) and I try to make it to a couple games each year in random places. Usually Chicago or Dallas because I can get a flight easier, but I’m in Seattle for work occasionally and sometimes the schedule lines up (I’m gonna miss the game on Sunday by about an hour which bums me out). I am always by myself for games.

I live in South Carolina. I came here for college and it really clicked how much I fucking hate being cold and will never move back.

Devils fan born in Jersey but lived almost my whole life in Florida so I consider myself from Florida. All my teams are a mix of NJ/NY and Florida.

I got into hockey and was upset my city (KC) didn’t have one… learned about how the KC Scouts became the Devils and Im a big Seinfeld fan so it just happened naturally… only been to games in St. Louis, San Jose and LA tho…

  22. animatedhockeyfan

Devils fan born and raised Vancouver Island. Been watching since Brodeur in the 90s. One of my best friends is the same way. *shrug*

  23. Cultural-Ad3533

I live in Saskatchewan & have been a Devils fan since the late 80s or so.
Had a little connection to Chico cause he’s from here & have liked them since.
There isn’t many of us here in this province but there are fans here.
I’ve been to both Calgary & Edmonton over the years for games & they are amazing to go to.
Feel like a little kid seeing the Devils in person.
A connection to the team could be because of knowing a player or just liking a player.
One day i would love to make it to Jersey for a game.
I want to see the Devils shop, it’s very rare to see Devils merchandise here.
Nice sweep of Alberta made me some cash.
    Let’s beat the Canucks now.

  24. Cliff_Pitts

I live in Oregon (no hockey in this state) and grew up outside of Philly. I moved here for skiing reasons originally, but ended up with a nice job.

I was a young defenseman and was in love with niedermeyer and Scott Stevens. One of my original emails was “ssrules” for Scott Stevens, until I discovered what the SS was in WWII and subsequently changed it. Parents let me stay up late to watch the devils win their cup in 03 because I was such a die hard fan.

  25. alev815

Grew up in Jersey and recently moved away for work in KC. I’m planning on going to the game in St Louis next month. I try to go home for a game once a year though

  26. Alexmkzero

Hey yo! I’ll be at the Kraken game Sunday!!!

  27. SnooHamsters8997

The is could be completely false, but I remember learning a long time ago that NJ is one of the highest move out states. As in, people born and raised there, typically move away at a higher rate than other states

  28. Satans_BFF

I drove 2.5 hours through 80km/h winds with 10-15 cars in the ditch on the highway to be at last nights game. I have no connection to NJ! As a kid I liked the logo the best, and the team being good and Marty sold the rest.

  29. cantthinkoffunnyname

My first hockey game outside of the North East was when I moved to STL for a few years and I had honest-to-god culture shock. People were so friendly, no one told me I sucked. The most aggressive someone was with me was quote-screaming Puddy’s Seinfeld « The Devils » to me after the game. The cheery friendliness honestly made me a bit homesick.

  30. Edmontonian here, and a big Devils fan. Beat reason I can give for being a New Jersey fan is « I’m a goalie. »

Happy for the teams success here in AB.
