I know I missed the stream but whatever happens with Sherwood, I’m just so happy to have this team on an up swing. The boys earned a trade in their favor. The caps going up and up so whatever the possible extension would be is better than dead cap space for a player who hasn’t touched the ice in two years. Thanks TT for another fun episode!!!
A couple bad bounces decided the game
Nice episode and the topic you got into is something I have noted for a few weeks now. The Sharks (when fully healthy) have 27 roster players.
This means they must move four out. Of the players three are most likely not coming back until after the Olympic Break (Feb 5 thru 25) which are Dellandrea (bottom six C), Sherwood (middle six RW) and Kurashev (middle six LW).
So, at some point a move must be made and as Ian said the easiest thing to do is to move waiver exempt players down to the AHL which I believe are Chucky (4C), Chernyhsov (top 9 RW) and Regenda (top 9 RW).
Not that I think they stay there, but like Ian stated, it will give GMMG the time needed to make any moves he wants without being rushed into making a move.
And that is the key point. I will say that I hope GMMG makes the moves he wants before the Olympic Break as I agree with Jason Demers on the San Jose Hockey Now's latest podcast who thought it would give the new players (and players moving out) time to acclimate to their new teams, cities, etc.
Got to enjoy that first goal for a number of seconds 🙂
