‘Member when Gibson went on the fourth longest winning streak for a goalie in Red Wings history last month? (8) Well he’s just one win away from tying that streak again.
We’re in Toronto for a few days. We got our victory last night, and this morning we’re heading to the Hall Of Fame. Gonna kick around town after that before watching tonights game. Any other must see or must do’s? Can anyone steer us to a bar/restaurant in the downtown area that will have the Wings on TV tonight?

I’m grateful that DeBrincat and Kane aren’t going to the Olympics.
Aren’t we one of the highest one goal game teams? A win is a win and sweeping Toronto wasn’t on my lifetime bingo card. But we are leaning on goaltending hard. Few years ago we were a much worse team but the highest scoring team in the league for a minute. What is best way to get goal production up by just a goal a game?

Good morning! And a special good morning to Mr. John Gibson, Mr. Dylan Larkin, Mr. Simon Edvinsson, and of course, Mr. Moritz Seider.
Mo and Ed are the best D pair in the league.
I gotta call a doctor because I’ve had an erection lasting way longer than four hours. LFG BOYS!
Earlier this season I was really unimpressed with Edvinsson, he was turning the puck over a ton, getting outskated by forwards and caught out of position quite a few times a game
But lately I think he has really improved. He’s calmer on the puck, looking to carry it or with his head up making stretch passes. You do see just the obvious advantage he has by being enormous and he’s using it.
His finish on the goal last night was underrated, that wasn’t an easy play. And he has just played very good hockey for a decent stretch now, it’s been awesome to see
Meanwhile now ASP is the one really struggling at the moment, tons of turnovers and just looking like he’s a bit overmatched.
Also. It sucks there’s no 3v3 OT in the playoffs. We are really good at dominating that, we killed the leafs last night in OT. They didn’t have a single shot on net
We’ve only won one game when its the back half of a back to back… it was against Chicago like 5 games into the season. This is going to be a hard one…
It’s kind of interesting how there’s dissonance between the vibe with Wings fans and the bigger perspective on the team.
Many of us view every game as must win and the Wings as an underdog, a scrappy group who manages to get a few wins here and there.
Step out a bit and many are seeing Detroit as a very good team and one who’s probably going to play extra hockey.
I’m not going to take anything for granted and continue to view every game as must win

Great win, way for the boys to hang in. I think we’re at the point though were we need to add a body or two. ASP is gased and the team is getting really afraid to play him. They are even pulling him off the pp. Kid needs a rest. Love the kid but it’s about the team.
Back to backs are rough enough, but on the road is nuts. The 2nd game should always be at home unless you’re playing the same team.
So we played a good first period – a horrible second period – how was the 3rd? I was putting some sick kids to bed.
It’s just refreshing to know that when we’re having a bad time on the ice we have a goaltender who can step up. Gibson is REALLY feeling it right now and is a major reason for last night’s win.

Right now we’ve got the best goaltender in the league. Comparing Gibby‘s numbers since December 1* to the current leaders’ full season statistics:

Gibby would lead the league in both GAA and SV%. That is pretty mind blowing.
I root for 2 things…
1. Red wing victories
2. Leaf’s lose.
Last night I got both in one game. And the cherry on top watching Biz crying like a bitch on TNT / Twitter. The biggest things I have noticed over the last few weeks from the boys.
1. The forwards have been better in their own zone supporting the defenseman.
2. They have been been winning more battles along the boards on a consistent basis.
World might feel like it’s crumblin’ around us, but at least we swept the Leafs.
How many of our players are there to get excited about this year? Where to begin? Gibby, Seider, Cat, Ray, JVR, Larkin. And the overachievers: Copp, Ras, Finnie, Chiarot. And don’t get me started with the pipeline.

I spent a few minutes and reviewed the advanced stats for yesterday’s game. I found the correlation between what I saw and what the numbers said to be very strong. Our best line yesterday was Ras-Apple-Soda (like a raspberry apple soda). They dominated possession and tilted the ice in their favor. The Copp line played well as usual, and the Larkin line held their own.
On the bad news front, the Finnie-Compher-JVR line was again bad. McLellan is probably going to have to do something about it. They are a black hole offensively and gave up way too many scoring chances, including the lone goal. Could we see Finnie sent down and maybe Leonard take that spot?
Also, the Chiarot-ASP pair was caved badly. It was a statistically poor game for both of them.

I’m starting to think that we’re not just a playoff team and we have a chance to go on a run when it all starts. I’ve been trying to ground my expectations this year, but wins keep piling up and we keep staying high up in the standings. I missed having relevant Red Wings games on my TV.
Hopefully March doesn’t break my heart again.
It almost feels like the Wings have gone from playoff hopeful to cup contender (but for the Avs). If we could just get a solid second pair D.
