    The Athletic had the Wings 7th on their PRs from Friday behind Buffalo, Vegas, and Minnesota. I could see being behind Minnesota cuz they beat the Wings head to head but the other two? Seems like their justification was Wings have been healthy and those other two haven’t

    It is still wild to me that the Atlantic makes up 4 of the top 6 and 7 of the top 16… then there is Ottawa, lol

    Mike Bartner also has the Red Wings listed as bottom of the Atlantic Division in his season predictions. He’ll hopefully have to hold a massive L soon.

    I can appreciate what he said about the team not being THAT different from last year, to a degree. The 3 main issues with past season was penalty killing, goal tending, and depth scoring. Even just getting to league average on those three would have made us a playoff team.

    Gibson is the main difference. He plays the most important position and not only are we at league average goaltending, he’s giving us Vezina level goaltending. That alone would have been enough to get us into the playoffs.

    The penalty killing is much better than last year. Finnie and JVR have been a big difference for depth scoring.

    Being 1st in the conference isn’t what I would have expected but Gibson is also not what I would have expected.
