I don’t think Yzerman ever used a plastic knob
Its probably a retail model, there are some things you can tell from an yzerman stick. Lots of times it the tape and the shortness of the stick. I’ve also never seen that top knob.
It could be one that was made for him, but I even doubt that.
My only insight is that local sporting goods stores (Dunham’s, etc) sold sticks like these around that same time frame. I remember my older brother having one that we used for street hockey. this *might* be different but it looks identical to the replicas sold all over the place back in the 90s.
I remember going to Perani’s and looking at the racks of wooden sticks like this. Kinda miss that. I was glad to be done with wood though back then though, the wood stick blades were definitely a pain
Growing up I remember my local hockey gear store having a wall of sticks with player names like this. I don’t think it was a stick Yzerman ever touched, but maybe someone smarter has better insight.

Yzerman used red, actually more pink, grip tape on his game sticks… not a plastic cap.

It’s probably just an Yzerman pattern stick. Someone tossed that knob on at some point. The butt end is shaved though. That’s a bit uncommon.
It’s original, probably, but Yzerman never laid a finger on it. I don’t know if you still can, but back through the 90s you could walk into any sporting goods store and buy player model sticks. They’d have all the major stars style sticks just lined up in the shelves. I played with an Yzerman Louisville stick for a while when trying to learn to shoot righty (I was a lefty but wanted to try switching it up to see if I could). But it was easy enough to find Yzerman, Lidstrom, Gretzky….models most anywhere that sold sticks.
So it’s an original retail stick.
I still have my Yzerman stick from high school in the basement. Played lots of street hockey with that thing.
They sold those sticks with like 6 different player names on them at hockey shops. Sort of like how nowadays you can buy sticks that have the same flex and curve as current players. You were just buying them for the pattern as far as I know.
Not saying there’s no chance it isn’t a game stick. But I remember seeing those on the racks as a kid.
If it was a game used stick there’d be a sign that there was once tape on the blade and some wear and tear though.
Not used by Yzerman but a cool twig.
The names were put on sticks for a different curve type. For example, Sherwood had a Coffey curve and it said Coffey on the stick for Paul Coffey. Now days I think they just do numbers for different curves.
I also doubt any one in the NHL used that rubber knob. They would fall off on ice and be an issue.

I had one like this when I was growing up. It is an Yzerman signature model stick (indicating his stick profile) that was purchased from a store. It’s not a game stick or anything that Yzerman ever used.
