lol if Dundon is cheap with players it is a pipe dream he’d ever not be cheap with fans
Would be nice to have an org that respects its fanbase enough to do this.

If the tickets are cheap but the concessions are (within sane reasonable levels) expensive, we get that.

If those are expensive but the parking is cheap we get that, etc, etc.
It’s when we can tell we’re getting gouged at every opportunity that I think it starts to break fandoms.
We’re not dumb, we’re know you’re trying to make money off of us.
But two tickets in the cheap seats on a Saturday afternoon for a middle of the season non-playoff game, a couple of beers or sodas and a hot dog or a bag of popcorn, a t-shirt, and a place to park your car for the afternoon shouldn’t be « Day at Universal Studios » levels of having to budget.

For real if they’re gonna charge so much for parking, on top of ticket prices, they should at least have reasonable prices inside. I did the math on it and average attendance is 18,795 people per game. Then, assume every car brought 4 people, so about 4,699 cars to park. If everyone used parkwhiz to purchase parking, they’re making $164,268, and if everyone payed at the lot, they’re making $211,443. And the lot is meant to hold around 8k vehicles

I really don’t know why anyone parks at the stadium for that price. There is so much parking around it with a short 10-15 min walk.

The loans on building a new city around the arena won’t pay for themselves!

What about the $8.75 pretzel!

But this is also the same league where if you ask them how many streaming services you should have to buy to watch every game they shrug and go « I dunno 5 or 6 that sounds sane. »

You gotta have MBA brain to know to slowly squeeze the funds out of every fan at every opportunity until they stop buying tickets then back it off 2%.
Sure you could grow the fan base by making it affordable, growing the sport, and make up those funds on volume in merchandise and TV revenue, but that’s hard to model in Excel and not as predictable. Lets raise concessions by 15% and give our STMs a 5% discount!

so what they should’ve been priced at all along 😭

I hate gouging us fans at every opportunity, but I think it’s necessary to put into context how much less of a proportion ticket/concession sales contribute to revenue in the NBA compared to the NHL. They make most of their money off of lucrative TV deals

I agree totally but for context 15 or so years ago ,when we were struggling, the canes ran a special. $100 4 upper deck tickets, 4 drinks, 4 hotdogs, and 4 bags of chips. Impossible to not compare the prices to those days lol but that’s not fair.

Considering how parking prices are way overpriced, is it « unethical » if you set your card limits so low that while paying for parking, the terminal will give an error and parking officer will just say don’t worry about it and let you in for free? I’ve never been able to pre-pay for parking and I’ve had no luck with downloading the parking app
