I don’t care what the Canucks get in return. I want him gone. Offensively, he’s done nothing. Defensively, he’s been bad. He hasn’t brought the toughness that was promised. He takes bad penalties on a consistent basis. Plays die on this stick.

Just get a pick, this year, next year, next decade, who cares. Let’s close this chapter and move on.

I’d rather keep him AND trade him (figured we needed some middle ground considering the comments to this post so far)

If it takes this much shopping just to end up with a 4th…

  5. UnsubstantialGoat

Would be awesome to get this done before Olympic break.

extend Kane, he’s the physical playoff performer we need.

  7. arazamatazguy

I hope he goes to the east and his only job is to run Panthers players.

Hopefully it gets done this week. It’ll be great to get rid of Kane and hopefully the return is fine. The roster space is more important though giving Lekkerimaki, Ohgren, Karlsson, etc more opportunities to play in higher roles.

I want a 2nd if it requires us to retain salary.

Maybe I’m being naive here, but trading him to open up salary cap let’s us take on some other shitty contract for picks.

And fanbases everywhere cried out in terror.

  11. Drab_Majesty

it is fucking bizarre to me that the fanbase is ok with the management group that gave up an asset to help the oilers move him are gonna just accept the same management group taking on salary and getting just about anything back…

  12. CicatrizTMV

Trade him for a bag of pucks and a pick, at this point I don’t care. Didn’t want him here to begin with and he’s done nothing to ingratiate himself to the team.

  13. Internal-Yak6260

I’d take a bag of pucks to get rid of him.!

Never liked him and was bummed when we signed him.

I think the difficulty with trading him is he has a NMC and if he gets traded to the states his paycheque can be garnished. But if he is playing in Canada the garnishment doesn’t apply. So I think his agent has been instructed to find a trade in Canada and negotiate with teams.

Kane is an expiring contract. Of course they’re willing to retain.

They’d retain the whole thing to get it done if they could.

  16. Benning2064

Kinda worried they end up not moving Kane which sucks cause getting something is better than nothing

  17. KAYD3N1

Retain salary? Isn’t his contract up this year?

  18. MagiksSon

So much speculation and talk around a guy thats gonna be traded for like a 4th lol

Surprisingly, now that this team is getting healthy, it’s become too crowded up front.

Vancouver is about to have Pettersson, Rossi, Chytil, Blueger, Kampf, Räty and Sasson up the middle. Chytil, Räty and Sasson can play wing but there’s just not enough roster spots to go around. Vancouver really needs to move their UFAs and a few vets to add to their draft picks and open up spots for guys like Lekkerimäki to get time in the NHL.

Am I the only one who doesn’t understand why they’re in such a rush to trade him? Even at 50% retained, the most we can realistically expect is a 3rd or 4th which tbh likely doesn’t do much in the long run. If the standings are still tight leading up to the TDL lots of teams would be looking to buy. In that case it might be worth to hold out to potentially get a better package

  21. rfdavid

First time we get an offer, the only correct response is “deal!”

  22. surmatt

Fuck… retain his whole salary. Who cares. Season is done, he’s off the books next year.

  23. Paper_Rain

I might be the only here but I was hoping that he would gel and click with this team. Thought maybe just maybe there would be able to have a productive season I was wrong. Parting ways is the best thing going forward for all parties involved.
