Hell Yeah! I was hoping they’d do this. Love OT Benny. Look at the monster he helped create in Seider.

  2. Training-Evening9756

Glad to see him locked up. We couldn’t afford to let him walk

  3. GiantDongDK

Term is a little long but cheaper AAV than his previous deal = win.

Edit: also with how thin free agency will be he absolutely could have chased a bag somewhere else. He clearly loves it here and that’s a good sign

Good contract. Fills the physical role and has done well in the role he should have been in all along on the 2nd line.

  5. MembershipExisting55

I really like that contract. Low AAV and three years

  6. MozTown53

Good. He fills the bottom four role well.

  7. GlizzyGuru

I’m good with it 3 years he will be 37. He will be great on the last line eventually.

  8. All the people slagging him off in the past 😂 way to go Benny!

  9. deadBoybic

Here’s to three more years of OT Benny! Happy with this signing, he’s a dawg out there

  10. MNightShyamalan69

This is a great contract. He’s better than people give him credit for. I feel like most have come around though.

Solid signing for a guy that has stepped up this year.

Nice, now we just need to get him some support so he can fit in a role that works for him 🔥

  13. He’ll be 37 at the end of this deal, but otherwise I’m okay with this.

I love this fuckin front office. Zero leaks. I know he was gonna be a free agent but did anyone have this on their radar? Welcome back #8

  16. 7screws

As long as he’s still not playing 2nd line in 3 years I’m fine with it

  17. dangleicious13

$3.85m AAV? Surely that means we can lock in Ed at 7 years, $4.5m AAV, right? …right?

  18. AmeriCanada98

Nice, cut almost a mil off his AAV and keep him around. I like that deal

Im shocked this contract is so reasonable

I consider Chiarot one of our MVPs this season. He’s been so damn clutch in the defensive zone. He doesn’t get recognized enough. Outside of Seider, I can’t remember the last time we had a dman who consistently breaks up odd man rushes and clears the zone so effectively.

I admit I wasn’t thrilled in his first couple years with the team but i am glad he is on this team and happy with the extension. Brings much needed stability and you always need guys who stand up to the pests.

  22. picohenries

I feel like he easily could’ve gotten more in free agency, nice to see.

  23. tblax44

That’s a great signing, he’s doing well in that second pairing slot and if we find another top 4 D man to push him to the third then our defense will be elite, plus he can float on the top pair if needed with injuries.

  24. TheDiscomfort

Nice. The other, slightly less great, 8.

  25. Miserable-Medicine85

That’s a steal with the rising cap. I saw people projecting $5million+ on the open market for him.

  26. AnonymousWonder0107

Love it. He’s has a very good year and the value is stellar! Good for you Benny!!!!

  27. SeiderFiveThree

Ben’s gonna retire a Red Wing

  28. Wingnut17

Veteran leadership, been very good defensively paired with ASP and he is built for playoff hockey. Great deal

  29. UsernamesCannotExcee

Is anyone familiar with how +/- stat might reflect a player’s ability? I imagine as a defender it’s probably pretty low if you’re on losing teams, right? Is that one of those fun stats that’s not indicative of individual play?

  30. LGRW_Sparty88

He has looked great once he was being deployed reasonably and once the team got better at not defending all game hemmed into their zone. Happy to keep him around.
