Ok, but where would McDavid play when Horvat comes back?
does « not shy of trading a first rounder » mean a future pick? Or a recent pick like Elund, Aitcheson and Eiserman?
Either way, our prospect pool isn’t very deep and I don’t think we’re ready to sell futures to win now, so either way, it better only be up for grabs only in exchange for a *good* player with term and not a rental.
Palat is how old?
Only if it’s Robertson from Dallas
I like these moves so far but I don’t think it would be smart to trade a first round pick or any prospects. We aren’t competitive enough yet to start trading away the future to win now. The focus should be on 2-3 years from now, not this upcoming playoffs.
If lou was making these moves the sub would be livid lol
I felt the same way after the two trades and we had a super deep team already. There’s threats in every line.
I like Kyrou, would kind of be like having another Barzal but he’s had trouble scoring this year.
Don’t really see what Garland gets us tbh. Maybe I don’t know enough about him.
Trading a mid/late 1st isn’t the worst idea, but also need to be really cautious that you’re not rushing to the championship window when we’re still in the retool.
Just look at how the last Rangers rebuild/retool ended up. They’re in exact same spot now that they were in when the first letter came out. No Cup to show for it.
Regardless of actual intentions from management, it would only make sense to respond this way to keep options available.
So in reality, there could be 0 intention of trading firsts, but this would at least allow us to still entertain what asking rates are for players. It keeps our foot in the door and doesn’t preclude us from feeling out other team offers.
I think this post means absolutely nothing. Y’all are delusional in the comments for talking about trading firsts for forwards with our glaring defensive gaps though
I have no problem trading the Colorado first. It’s most likely going to be 28-32.
I hope Darche doesn’t go after Stamkos and make a theme out of getting his band from Tampa back together. It doesn’t seem like a great time to intentionally make our team older.
That last one is a ruh roh for me
Personally I’m hoarding all top futures until an elite player hits the market. Our version of Eichel, Tkachuk, Rantanen, etc
Robert Thomas, Brady Tkachuk, Jason Robertson would all fit the bill but those are most likely offseason moves if they happen at all. And yeah, it’s comical to bring him up but McDavid too. Either way I’d rather we hold off on rentals or even Kyrou types.
Id 100% trade a 1st rounder, especially Colorado’s pick (which is basically the last 1st round pick) for an established NHL player.
In fact, I hope he trades that 1st pick for a solid RH defensemen.
This has disastrous potential
As a devils fan I hope palat turns around his play for your guys sake but I don’t think your fan base realizes how bad he has been. A lot of Devils fans thought his contract would take a 2nd or even a first to move. The guy has been horrendous this year and last and is a net negative when he’s on the ice.
I assume (hope?) trading the first round pick only comes into play as part of a deal for a key core piece moving forward (like the Horvat deal) and not as a putting chips on the table for a run this year (rental).
i hate to be that guy, cause I do love that Isles are adding bodies instead of selling, but these trades fucking sucked. both nj & nyr fans are cheering that they even got something in return for the players they shipped out
