  1. Ive hated kevyn adams since his time playing with Carolina but you have to give him some credit. Firing him didn't change the team or culture over night.

  2. Adam’s kept buying Ferraris and Porsches that he didn’t know how to drive. leadership and culture took a pile of good pieces and turned it into a wagon. He HAD to go, they had no confidence in his abilities or faith in him.

  3. It was jarmo telling the team everyone is expendable. Also they finally started to believe in each other and what lindy is telling them to do.

  4. He did .. he made some good trades, made the team better… there's no denying that. However, I don't believe he's the type of guy you would run through walls for. Jarmo came into that locker room and immediately set expectations and fires got lit under asses. Apparently, Tage, Dahls, and Tuch (might have been another couple guys) had their own dinner meeting to set the tone… and they fucking delivered.

Kevin built a good team. Jarmo lit the fire. Captains got their shit in order. Now, you've got a team playing for a coach that can get you to the playoffs.

  5. Kevyn was good drafting and trading. His problem was he was a pegula yes man. Pegula held this team back. Got mad hes on the bench for the Sabres and now taking it out on the Bills.

  6. Dumb comment about Bills and Brady. They did not already have him bc he was interviewing for HC jobs. Hire him or lose him

  7. also realize that the Peterka trade, signing Alex Lyon Was while Jarmo was the advisor to Adams. Jarmo may have directed Adams to take those actions. The Josh Norris for Cozens trade is up in the air until Norris can stay healthy. The only pure Adams trade that has started to work out is the Byrum for Middlestadt trade.

  8. A few things that look different this year with the Sabres. Goaltending has improved and in the offensive zone i see much more net front presence. Screening goalies, getting deflections, and scoring off rebounds which is something they have been terrible at in recent seasons. Also, confidence is a hell of a drug!

  9. This run has been nice, but I'll be interested to see if they can continue their winning ways after the Olympic break. Three years ago, this team seemed like they were on the verge of ending the drought heading into the All-Star break. They completely collapsed after the break and through most of March before making a failed push for a WC spot. Not exactly the same team, but many players from that squad are on this year's team.

  10. Kesselring isn’t even in the top 4 its Dahlin Samuelsson Byram and Power thats why they could be so frustrating all these years because they have the talent and damn that team is fast they out skate almost everyone most nights

  11. There it is.. Adams was the kind of guy that didn't make coming to work fun.. for whatever internal dynamics we'll never know.

When the rumors heated up Adams was a goner, so did the team.

The ingredients were always quality, but the chef just wasn't making them pop until a new chef took over the menu

  12. Young Doaner becoming a Leader there I hear, and if Kesselring can fit in that'd br great. The JJ Pete and Doan/Kess trade wrkn really well for both teams so far, imo, LookOut for 'muh Mam's- the rising Star of the Central Division.

  13. Mammoth fan here. I miss Doan but so happy to see him getting ice time, a deal and killing it with Buffalo.

  14. Kevyn might have built a solid roster. But he failed at many other areas. Too indecisive and timid on roster moves, poor media presence and many other areas

  15. When u miss the playoffs every year for 5 years and pick in the top 10 ur gonna build a good roster. Adam’s did a bad job. The eichel trade was terrible the reino trade was terrible. He did nothing to help the youngest team in hockey who missed the playoffs by 1 point. He did nothing when the team lost 13 straight last year. He lucked into Tage becoming a super star out of no where. He tried to send Noah ostlund, one of our best players, down to Rochester this year because it was the easy option. I’m happy he’s gone

  16. How about You Boys PLan a Trip to Buffalo This Spring! We got your Playoff Seats Ready Outside the Stadium Its called "Party in the Plaza"

  17. What’s wild is there isn’t anyone I am really anxious to move. Quinn is a name that comes up for his lack of consistency, but I don’t hate him by any means, and they have one iffy d-pair bc of the Timmons injury. But I’m reminded of how much I liked everyone on the 05-06 roster minus Kalinin and FizPatrick. They’re just built beautifully from top to bottom. And like that 05-06 team, their young guys are hungry and contributing.

  18. For the last several years I saw former sabres playing in the Stanley cup, winning trophies and drinking from Lord Stanley's cup.

All let go by Kevin.. what's his name general manager.
    Building winners on other teams.

  19. Near the beginning of the drought Pegula forced our GM to sell off players who were performing well so we could tank for the McEichel draft. That action cursed the team. Since then we’ve had gms that were very good at acquiring good players who just couldn’t perform in buffalo (eichel, montour, Erod, ORielly, Ullmark, Lehner, Reinhart, Olofson, etc, etc). We finally have a GM that refuses to move players that are clearly extremely talented but just can’t perform in GMKA and the team is garbage until Pegula fired him, and it looks like the curse may be broken.

Pegula forces the gm to sell talent and we are cursed for over a decade, and then Pegula fires a gm that refuses to sell talent and the curse is lifted!

  20. Dahlin was drafted by Jason Botterill in 2018. Botterill also traded Ryan O’Reilly to St. Louis and Tage Thompson was part of his return on that trade. Almost everyone else on the Sabres was acquired on Kevyn Adams watch. His young draft picks are turning out to be terrific. Most of his trades are also looking great. Here’s why I was happy to see him fired. He traded away Jack Eichel & Sam Reinhart….and….he was an arrogant ass with the media and Sabres fans overall. But despite trading away two of the biggest stars playing now in the NHL, he has put together a very good group of players that seem to have taken to Jarmo extremely well!

  21. You have to give a lot of credit to Lindy Ruff and Adams. The new GM came in after the team had already started their winning streak. They had won 3 in a row, he made no changes to the team, coaches or lines. The only thing he did was say "Everyone can be traded" or somethong like that. Like, big deal, what new GM wouldn't say that!!! The moves Adams made – Goalies, forwards and on defense are starting to all come together.

  22. I think once they won 5 in a row maybe a few more, they realized they knew how to WIN. And have been building on that knowledge as a team. That's how cinderella stories happen

  23. Adams was just hitting his stride the last couple years. I was rooting for Ruff's return after NJ fired him. Glad it happened. I was in favor of the result of the Peterka trade despite the bitching from the media and dumb fans. I was wrong about UPL, he has been better than I expected. It's been frustrating watching the talent they have being consistent losers. I think the problem was with the players attitude as much as it was anything else. The lackadaisical play made me insane. The quit when behind. Maybe the firing gave them a kick in the ass, Lindy Ruff hockey is kicking in. They forecheck and backcheck persistently. Now that they are winning I am seeing more determination and no quit. Finally!

  24. Sabres fan since Day One, from Buffalo living in Las Vegas, VGK since Day One . Both my teams contenders? Pinch me I’m dreaming.
