@Flames de Calgary

    Less seats, less vendors, how do you pay for it as tax payers, and fans == the equation is simple, don’t even need to watch the video to do the math.

    Here’s the fun part about tax payer funded arenas, you don’t have any say in the vendor pricing just because it was your dollars that built the thing. Expect $12-15 beers and food to be equally as mispriced.

    When it comes to concessions I generally accept I’m getting ripped off. It doesn’t matter whether you’re talking about your local rink, the movie theater, or a Flames’ game, markup is generally insane.

    In the grand scheme of things I don’t care that much. I go to a hockey game so rarely that paying a fortune on popcorn or a hotdog isn’t that bad.

    With that said, the price of concessions will likely rise to the level people have demonstrated a willingness to pay. I would expect them to be in line with the concessions in Edmonton.

    Don’t care about the price, just get some better food and some better drink options.

  6. Since we paid for half of it I imagine we’ll get completely shafted.

    Here’s the thing.

    For many experiences its not the price of the ticket that bothers people, its the price of the entire experience when you factor in extras including food. Take the Stampede for example…$25 is pretty reasonable for access, but when a lemonade is $8 and a plate of food is $20, it adds up fast.

    If you paid $100 to go to a Flames game and beers were $7 and hot dogs were $5, you’d feel a lot better about your experience have a lot more fun.

    A lot. Ticket prices and food will both go up significantly. Modern NHL arenas don’t have $12 beers or happy hour 2 for 1 hot dogs.

    I almost threw up when I was at the BOA in Edmonton. IIRC it was $45 for 5 chicken strips and 2 beers?

    Granted it was playoffs but still.

    Considering the fact that the current food options are bottom end carnie cuisine with already obscene prices, my bet is we will get some better options at incredibly inflated prices with absolutely shite seating. Shows what CSEC think of their fan base.

    I already can’t afford to go see games live 🤣
