The only real play that makes sense here is hronek for that pick +. Don’t think anyone else gets it done that they’d want (petey)
You can’t just send 4 contracts to a team that is already at 49/50 and the Canucks can only retain on 2 more salaries this season.
Conor Garland would actually be a very good fit for the Isles and could probably be worth their mid-late 1st. He’d be able to drive Horvats line, letting them split Barzsl to run the other top six line. Their right wing group is pretty awful.
Beyond that there’s no realistic asset I could see them wanting. Obviously they’d love Hronek to pair with Schaefer but he’s not waiving this year.
M Petey, Raymond, and a 2nd for that pick
Jake DeBrusk for the 20th overall pick would be plenty.

We only have two retention slots open and trying them up for multiple seasons for a mid-teens first would probably be pretty rash. Nevermind until 2032 on Garland, which I would not do.
I’d offer Garland and a 2nd for their 1st and 3rd, doubt they’d take it though.
Edit: note that this trade improves both the position and quantity of our draft picks
Bye bye garly
Pretty sure Garland + is worth 21st overall
Garland or Debrusk + Mancini + late rd pick if needed.
I don’t think we have anything they want for a 1st outside of maybe EP40 but then they probably would want salary retention and that’s a no go, better to keep him here plus he has his NMC.
lol to anyone who thinks the islanders would take a bucket of spare parts for their first round pick
Do the islanders have a really bad contract? I don’t think most of the Canucks assets get a first. I’d rather Sherwood at 1.5 than most of the expensive contracts the Canucks have.
Probably requires a decent asset plus taking back an expensive contract.
Give us all the 1sts
Pettersson you are an islander
Mid first round pick has a 50/50 chance of playing 100 nhl games, this isn’t the NBA
I don’t wanna trade hronek and that’s probably the only guy on the roster that gets it done… Petey has a value but I don’t think anyone knows what that is
I do kind of wonder if Debrusk would be a good fit for the Isles. Feels like a bit of a reach, but their powerplay is one of the worst in the league and pp scoring is the one thing he’s really good at.
Darche was the AGM in Tampa when they were aggressively flipping firsts for guys like Hagel, Coleman, Goodrow, Savard, and Jeannot (lol). Savard was the only pure rental, all the other players had term. If I were Darche, I am reusing the Tampa blueprint.
Except for Savard, those guys were all in their mid-20s. Looking at the Canucks for that same « cost-controlled prime » winger profile, you’ve got Hoglander, O’Connor, Sasson, or Karlsson.
Build a package around one of the wingers + Blueger for the first. It gives Darche a pure rental and a cost controlled prime winger.
lol adding those guys lowers the value, not increase it
