In addition to the article it’s worth noting Levshunov is the 4th most sheltered defenseman by offensive deployment as well as bottom 5% in terms of strength of competition.
In this time Levshunov, 5v5, has graded out as the 2nd worst Dman in the NHL for expected goals differential, 10th worst xGA/60, bottom 5 for xGF%, bottom 3 in HDCF%, worst in the NHL for HDCA/60, bottom 25 in xGF/60, bottom 30% for ixg/60, bottom 5 for giveaways/60, and bottom 30 in blocks/60. (Of qualified Dmen)
These statistics are all before tonight’s game(which will only tank them further), and despite being one of the most, if not the most protected defensemen in the entire league.
It’s time. He shouldn’t have been up in the first place. And none of this is to mention by metrics he’s the single worst PP1 QB in the NHL as well, which, if there’s any contestation I’m happy to provide stats as well.

Yes. No one has said their development was hindered in the minors.
What they have said was “I was rushed too early into Pro”
(Yes I’m aware AHL is pro level)

NHL not a developmental league but he’s fine

Im gonna go with the old school hockey analysis and say no.
Rinzel needed to go back to the AHL. He couldn’t cut it. Arty is leading the D corps in scoring, he is making some great plays, and being aggressive in the offensive zone.
No, his game is not perfect at all. But currently Foligno is the only skater with a positive +/- and he missed 5 weeks.
Our forwards are weak on the defensive zone because a lot are young, which puts pressure on a young D corps as well.
What would be the purpose of Arty in the AHL? Go dummy some guys that won’t make the show? He’s shown he can skate circles around guys. He isn’t drowning, he is just trying to tread water on a developing team.
Arty does things that a lot of NHL d-men can’t do, he needs minutes on the ice and he’s getting that plenty in the NHL
ShellshockedLetsGo
He’s bad. The only reason he’s in the NHL right now is because of KD’s ego. Lev isn’t gonna be in the AHL while Demidov leads all rookies in scoring in the NHL.
For a 2nd overall he shows absolutely no excellence in any element. All his supporters can talk about are his supposed « tools » and never anything specific.
Also if I have to read another post about how old Keith was before he was a NHL regular imma pull my hair out lol. A 2nd overall and 2nd round player have completely different expectations.

I think he should go down now and play over the Olympic Break to try to find some kind of rhythm. He looks lost out there currently. His defense is atrocious and he looks confused on offense. He reminds me of Logan Mailoux at the start of the season and a stint in the AHL helped him.

Yes.

Why not post this after a W. It’s so easy to doomscroll after a loss.

He’s starting to look like Boris Mironov

He’s obviously struggling. No way around that.
If we’re looking purely at what makes this year’s team perform best on a nightly basis, it **might** be best to send him down for a bit. I say « might » because that then creates the question of who takes his place with the big club. Would Rinzel be a big improvement? Or Korchinski/EDM, which would force somebody to play on their off-side?
It’s totally fair for us fans to wonder about those scenarios, but I don’t think that making this team better **right now** is the top priority of this coaching staff and front office. They’re fully aware that this year’s team isn’t a contender. Their primary concern is what’s best for long-term development.
If the coaching staff feels that Arty is learning and growing his game more in the NHL than he would in the AHL, I’d expect him to stay with the big club regardless of what it means for the team’s short term success.

He KILLED the Hawks tonight and it wasnt just from being on the ice for five goals against. That third Penguins goal was 100% Levshunov’s fault and watch the other Hawks on the ice when it happens, they just instantly slouch, totally beaten.
The backbreaker goal, the one that can’t go im, and he did a matador impression on the Penguin who skated right by him.
I think he knew he fucked up too as he was in a pretty foul mood by the end of the game.
I don’t think the other players on the team have any confidence in him out there. But he played like such garbage the last time he was in Rockford I don’t know how much benefit he’ll get there either. He has maturity issues and doesnt think he belongs down there.
But he does.
Even worse, I don’t think the Hawks even can send him down if Murphy is going to be traded. Rinzel will have to come up to replace Murph and that is IT for RHD. If Levshunov was sent down and Murphy traded, Grzelcyk would have to switch to wrong side (assuming he isnt traded too), and one of Korchinski or Del Mastro would have to come up.
And lets be clear, NONE of the Rockford defenseman have looked particularly impressive either. The Hogs are a dumpster fire. They are the second worst defensive team in the league.
The reality is while Levshunov should probably go to the minors in a vacuum, the resulting impact on the roster might be even worse, if Murphy is traded as expected, with no guarantee he even tries to figure it out down there.

From everyone who has actually talked to him, it is clear that it would be far too negative of a mental impact to have any positives overcome it. There really is no need to go further into it. Good days and bad days, but the Blackhawks can afford to ride the waves for now

This dude has been lost in the sauce lately. Like show some effort and sense of urgency. Those are the things you can’t coach so yes send him down for a reset and see how he reacts.

Demidov was right there lmao

When Kyle Davidson is fired in a few years, everyone is going to point to the terrible selections and development of Levshunov and Korchinski.
