Since the Mickey sweater did so well, here’s the Kane FAP I also got recently.

It’s actually funny how everyone seems annoyed it went to OT. A tampa win in OT is way better than a Boston win in any fashion. We don’t care about Tampa, all we care about is the other teams of the division losing.
9pm game, ew

Still haven’t fully come down from Saturdays gem. Go green baby. Keep Trey Augustine a Red Wing Steve!
Worst week in Red Wing hockey for a while. Here is hoping this week will be much better! #LGRW
Definitely need to get 4 points to salvage this series
I haven’t really watched many of the pre or post game interviews lately, but has anyone asked about the slow starts this season?
Have to root for the Panthers and wild tonight but most importantly…
LGRW!
Bruins fucked up their own game last night. You give up a 5 on 3 man advantage to a top-tier team who scores twice in 30 seconds, and suddenly a 4–2 lead with three minutes left in the second just evaporates. Losing 5–4 after that isn’t bad luck it’s a reality against top teams.
Putting things in perspective, we lost to the team with the most points in the league, and there’s a reason they’re there. If Boston couldn’t protect a massive lead against a team that’s second in points, maybe we can apply a little plain Jane reality to our own loss against the Avs. Sometimes the lesson isn’t ‘we’re bad’ it’s that other teams are just better and punish mistakes. Fans have to stay supportive
I didn’t get to watch the actual game Saturday just score checking as I was working but am off today. Let’s gooooooooo!! Statement game.

Ok y’all im slightly back down to earth from my Petterson spacewalk and it’s based in data.

He’s up from a productive ‘23-24 season in small and medium burst rate, but down as far as max speed and down in all speed categories compared to his best season in ‘22-23. Speed isn’t the most important thing is his game, he produced at a higher rate (on a better team) with worse speed metrics comparing this year to ‘23-24. There’s still a lot of skill and hockey sense there.
I still think there are other reasons that can help explain why his production is down (Tocchet, Miller, Family issue, team around him, org signaling rebuild), and that he will bounce back with the right new team, but I’m now a bit more concerned about his knee than I was previously… I’m seeing tendinitis – not really anything you can treat and will probably just get worse over time. The advanced metrics are still favorable albeit slightly reduced from his peak production.
I’m now less interested in acquiring him, but still a little petter-curious.
Man this weather sucks. Avs away is gonna suck.
But we’re all gonna be positive and survive this trying Monday. Manifesting good results.
Edit: man every time I feel sick and go to bed early I miss a great hockey game, I totally passed out and skipped the stadium series.
Seats 3 rowys behind the netminder at the Wings-shoot-twice end of the ice tonight. I’ll be rocking my #53, and I believe my redhead wife will be in her #5. (We were also out at Climate Pledge back in early December when Gibby started his mean streak, and got lots of comments about the two of us rocking a fearsome blueline.)
RETRIBUTION!
Was watching the outdoor game last night and was reminded of this:

I guess it only applies when you’re not trying to sell new pom hat styles?
Happy Monday folks, hope everyone has a great week!
I wouldn’t say this team is in a full on March-esque collapse yet, but we’re trending in that direction these last few games.
Last year I remember Todd putting a big emphasis on going into the 4 Nations break on a positive note, we then proceeded to get smacked by Tampa and the uninspired play continued once we got back. Hopefully that was a lesson and they can end these last two games strong before heading into the Olympic break.
My biggest issue right now honestly is Larkin. 4 points in 5on5 play since December 1st. I love the guy and I know he’s dealt with injuries in past years, but his play down the stretch becoming a pattern is really starting to worry me. Especially when you factor in the comments he made in his postseason presser about wanting help at the deadline and how deflating it feels when nothing happens. Yzerman addressed Larkin’s comments and clearly didn’t seem thrilled, it kind of came off like a loser mentality from a captain.
If Larkin really wants this team to push and add at the deadline, we were literally on pace to do exactly that in December. But now with how the team is playing and him not really showing up the way you’d expect, it puts a magnifying glass on whether he’s actually the guy who can dig this team out of a slump.
I’m not trying to be a doomer, I still think this team is better than the last few years. It just feels like we’re stuck in the same middle ground where the progress is real but the same cracks keep showing up, and it’s hard to fully trust that this time is different. The only thing giving me some hope is that we’ve seen them face adversity this year and bounce back pretty quickly, they just need to find a way to get back to playing inspired hockey when it matters most, which is asking for a lot seeing how the last few seasons have ended for us lmao
