At this point I think you people believe if Tocchet never got into coaching we would have everlasting world peace.
He left after 20-21, and then you see Keller’s analytics really jump after that
I was all for giving Tocc a chance, but as many of you predicted, he is really fucking this up. He needs to go before all of our young talent wants out
The extra frustration is that Tocc takes no accountability in his coaching and decisions. Punishing Meech for being out of shape, due to injury I might add, for a whole season is ludicrous. For most orgs, if a player shows up late to practice, they maybe get relegated to the 4th line for a game or at most scratched for one game. Actually crazy to still be discussing his offseason status considering where the team is now and the continued use of other massively underperforming vets.
I feel like it is the age old coaching problem with Tocchet. He doesnt fit his philosophy/system to his personnel. He tries to force the personnel into his system/philosophy and as usual, we repeatedly see this coaching strategy fail.
I was optimistic in the beginning of the year but his rigidity is wearing thin. Even in a perfect world, this team never had the personnel his style needs. Short sighted and uncreative coaching hire.
Toxic Rick sucks, and everyone smart knew this was going to happen. But he was a former Flyer and buddies with Danny and Keith!!! Two of the least qualified executives in the league, which is basically the Flyers M.O so
Did he make him marginally better defensively by playing within a rigid system? Yes.
Did he completely destroy his offensive creativity within that rigid system? Also yes.
Are we team tank or not? Tocc is clearly a tank coach. This is what I want. Top 5 pick here we come.
Now do Vancouver. Oh wait, it would be the complete opposite. Started winning when he got there and started losing when he left. Best to ignore that stop of his career then since it wouldn’t help your argument.
