Trotz was the coach we needed at the time we needed him – but the game has left him behind which is almost worse when you are the GM than when you are the coach.
What beating the Islanders does to a— wait, what?
Hate to see it, but just goes to show that not everyone is cut out to be a GM. The job was given to him in an extremely honorable way, from his longtime friend Dave Poile, but the rest is history. I had hoped he’d find some success but Nashville needs to the right the ship asap
When he stepped down here, it appeared that a big part of the reason was that he needed to put more time into some personal matters. I hope everything is ok with him and his family.
I’m sure he’d still be a great and in demand coach if he wants to get back into that somewhere. I also wouldn’t be surprised if he just doesn’t want to work full time anymore. Especially if it means moving cities again.
Barry deserves a nice retirement.

wow garth snow was GM longer…
everyone must love this guy. he’s never « let go, » he always « steps down. » if people really want to embarrass you, they will, but nobody ever wants to do that with Trotz. he must be a good dude.
I still think he should have a plaque here or something, lol. best coach of my lifetime by far and brought a ton of respectability back to the franchise. I’ll never think poorly of the guy.
In fairness to him, Barry Trotz looked like a genius two of seasons ago to most people, including me.
Excellent coach and will always respect what he did here and how he changed the culture. That said, he should never be a GM again
If he wanted to ever be a coaching advisor with us, I wouldn’t mind
