He also set the Wild record for 3-assist games in a season. In 25 Games. Insane.

Orr is Orr, but I always like to remind people that Paul Coffey played in probably the most explosive offensive era in NHL history.
And he did so playing his first like 10 years with prime Gretzky on the oilers and then prime Lemieux on the penguins.
Not to undersell Coffey’s career, he was great, but Hughes did this playing for the 2020s Canucks mainly lol.

I’d say that’s some fairly solid company to be around

This is the third stat posted today for Hughes!

Canucks fan here, I knew he had it in him. He was so dominant here. Glad he’s playing to maximum potential surrounded by consistent talent (as opposed to streaky talent here). One thing that stands out to me for him in Minnesota is that I think next year he has a real chance of hitting 100 points. He almost did it here when our team was PDO merchant, but I think with kaprizov and boldy and whoever else on your team, he will be the next defender with 100 points after Erik Karlsson.
Also, with these stats we had to monitor Cale Makar 😂. Hughes would set or come close to these records and then like a handful of games later, Makar would do the same, usually more impressively.
Edit: just checked: Makar needs 47 assists in the next 36 games, so unless he goes on a tear, I think Hughes is safely ahead 🙂
Kaprizov will be his MacKinnon. He never truly had one in Vancouver after Pettersson’s recurring wrist injury.

I miss Hughes so much but Im glad hes thriving and not wasting away here (in Vancouver) . Yall hated the trade when it happened but I was here telling you guys you got a top 5 player in the NHL.

Keep in mind he did the majority of this work on an absolute dumpster fire of a franchise. He’s incredible. Hope you guys win the cup.
