@Flyers de Philadelphie

To think Michkov from all reports told teams he didn’t wanna go to them in the draft but was overjoyed to come HERE.

Comes off a sensational rookie year & now it feels like they are damn near daring the kid to ask out.

    Genuinely can’t believe the stupidity.

  2. Concerned_Fanboy

Literally all of the interviews done at the carnival were horrifying if you are actually a fan of this team.

Every time one of these talking head corporate stooges opened their mouths all I could hear in my head was the ‘hello darkness my old friend…’ song.

“I’d ask Friedman, how many minutes should he get? Should he get the mins just because he’s from (stutters) or because he played well last year.” – Toc

This is a four alarm fire. If he was dragging ass and playing 17-19 mins every night on the RW, it’s all on him. Instead Tocc has inserted himself into this nightmare.

It’s amazing how the one definitively good thing the team has had going in the Briere/Jones era – PR, and fact that things have largely been kept under wraps when there are issues in house – has now completely gone to shit.

Alright I’ll say it: I dislike our coach and the current situation of our hockey team. Phew, glad to finally get that off the chest.

  6. Blev088

    >It’s unfathomable Briere said they wanted a coach who would « unlock » their skill players to then & turn maybe the most anti-skill HC in hockey.

This is probably the biggest misstep Briere has done to this point that I find in unforgiveable territory. Tocchet is/was a known quantity, so how the hell we ended up hiring him given all of Briere’s moves up until that point just boggles my mind. I can forgive a lot, bad drafting, bad contracts, but this hire will set us back years unless corrected ASAP.

    Archaic franchise, man.

Every post I read about this keeps getting worse.

  8. schazamoo

Who wants to go egg Tocc’s house with me, Patullo style?

  9. nipplesweaters

I don’t think they’d fire him after 1 year but if there’s actual tension between the FO and Tocch maybe they’d actually pull the trigger (if they can convince Comcast to pay 3 coaches at once).

  10. upcan845

Last year I was surprised when Torts got fired. It seemed predestined for him to join to the front office, but he made a bad public comment and that was his end.

Maybe Tocchet publicly harping on Michkov « missing treatments » could be the end. The national media should not be talking about this stuff. I’m probably just wishful.

  11. DH28Hockey

We are one Buffalo Sabres playoff appearance away from being the single biggest joke of a franchise in the NHL

  12. andrewskdr

Yeah now just wait until we for some dumb reason trade Michkov and he goes and puts up 90 points next season with a real team while we try to sign old slow players to lucrative multi year contracts.

  13. EarthBelcher

It is time to force Tocchet to play Michkov more. He will not improve when he is barely playing more than our 4th line. And if we crush his confidence while making him feel unsupported by the team then he will be looking to leave this dumpster fire the 1st chance he gets.

  14. Due-Wind-3324

Knew it. Should’ve kept Shaw. Disgraceful.

  15. PlatonistData

Yea Tocchet needs to get over himself here. Playoffs are down the drain. You signed up to coach through a rebuild. I’m not totally against the team riding the vets hard to start the season and do what they think they can to win games but at a certain point you need to concede that the season is over. It was a fun run and a glimpse of what the team could be eventually with more talent. But it’s time to go full swing on development. Michkov needs 1st line minutes, Zegras needs to play C, Drysdale, York and Andrae need 1st pair all situations minutes, anybody on the Phantoms playing well this year needs to get some NHL reps and when the college season ends Martone needs to be playing top line and PP1 for as many games as we have left. These guys need to be ready for bigger roles next year. And while they’re at it give Coots some games off. Bro is absolutely cooked from playing top 6 minutes. He’s not a horse anymore.

  16. broadbandbaddie

Many reasons to fire Tocch but “vibe killer” is among them

  17. Dark_Canuck1

Please start Fire Tocchet chants. Loudly.

  18. Baseball3737

The most important thing for this franchises future is how the young guys develop. They knew this and then decided to hire a coach that needs to be reminded to play the young guys. Oh boy

  19. roguefiftyone

I will say this and if I get shit then so be it – two organizations in professional sports live off the nostalgia of championships won decades ago. The Flyers and the Cowboys

  20. SeesawLimp

Still can’t believe they signed Tocchet for 5 years. With his money, corporate ownership, he isn’t going anywhere.

    God I miss Brad Shaw.

  21. SadYotesFan

Pissed off because the questions asked weren’t lay up questions that led to simple answers filled with “pucks in deep” “board battles” “continue playing hard”

  22. SarGhoul24

Hearing him so willingly air out his grievances about MM makes me buy into the Tocchet hates Russian players rumors. This is a malpractice of leadership and DB has lost all goodwill with me. He and Tocchet should be shown the door together before the season is through.

  23. Dizzy_Example5603

This is again just media garbage for clicks. Tocchett was not pissed when asked during the meeting. People are seeing what they want to see. Was management thrilled about his comments? Of course not. He said things that should have been kept quiet but IMO Tocchett is tired of getting these questions so he spilled the beans.

People are making assumptions based on vague comments. Like most analysts take the reminder comment by Jones to mean sending down Lane to force Tocchett to play Zegras at C.

People are overreacting to a whole lot of nothing. This is coming from a fan who thinks this team is going nowhere

  24. Golden_Jiggy

Remember before we hired Toc when everyone said this was a bad fit because he’s gonna bench the young players…

  25. FlyersLaForest

If they choose Tocc over Michkov it’s gonna break my heart. This stubborn fuck is actively and purposefully sabotaging our most exciting prospect in years. If he came to camp out of shape, yeah punish it in practices and the first week or whatever. Don’t fucking vendetta against him for the entire season

  26. PotentialPea2419

Could you imagine having a job that guarantees you get paid for five years regardless of how shit you are. So dumb lol..

  27. BigBroDave

Yeah Tocc is a perfect shit storm where Michkov is concerned. Airs him out all season like he is playing top mins on the team which of course he is not. Limits his TOI by pulling him early, giving him next to no PP time, no OT, playing him exclusively off wing, why not make Brink play LW? You put your better player in the best position plus Brink can grind wherever. Tocc also acts like this is not a big deal, then put him back, he won’t b/c then MM will score and he will be found out. Hate to tell people but their struggles are not on MM as much as he would like you to believe, he is not out there enough. Don’t fall for his trick, he likes the MM discussion b/c it keeps the heat off of him as he is the problem, plain as day.
