    Buffalo went 20-3-1 and gained like 6 points on the teams above them.

    Devils aren’t making the playoffs

    Because of that godawful charity point (go take a look at the Kings and Ducks in the standings right now, you might puke), it is near impossible to gain any meaningful ground.

    Look at it this way, the Islanders right now are the team closest to them in the playoff hunt as they have 65 points. The second wildcard is Buffalo, who hasn’t lost in seemingly five years and is still only a wildcard team lol. Anyway, if the Islanders play at exactly this pace the rest of the way they would have 97 points.

    In order for the Devils to get to 97 points, they would have to win 20 of their next 27 games. OTL points don’t come in to play for the Devils since they win all of their 3-on-3 games for some weird reason lol

    Now, if we didn’t have this fucking charity point like a normal sports league, the playoffs are like so …

    Much more manageable! And much more logical and fair. Instead, the Devils are tied in the standings with the Flyers who are 24-30. Unreal

    Technically but man, it’s over. Just sell the rentals and trim the fat for picks. Keep our first since it’ll be a worth while player and retool. Maybe spend the rest of the season making SOME SYSTEM OR COACHING CHANGES or something

    The playoff hopes are over in all but name. The math isn’t there to close the gap unless a team ahead has an epic collapse and we somehow regain form we haven’t had since that 8 game winning streak. I just hope management realizes that by the deadline and commits to selling rather than buying; teams like Buffalo are gonna be huge buyers

    All playoff hope ended when we lost 9-0 to the isles. That was the nail in the coffin.

    We should be selling at the deadline. Move on. Acquire assets to make a big move (or a few) in the offseason
