Hah omg can you imagine Artemi panarin here. That would make for an awkward locker room.

Kyrou would be the best case scenario to add. His speed is elite and as mentioned in the article, he fits our contention window quite well with his age. I’d be willing to give up a lot more for Kyrou compared to Panarin.

But aren’t Blues doing well enough to keep him? Not sure if they would be sellers this year.

Just do something before the Olympic break please

I just want Panarin to go wherever he’s going so the rest of the market can act. I don’t blame them being in on Panarin but they’re not going to be able to make other moves until he passes on us.

Kyrou is by far the best option for us, would love for him to come to DC

Much more reasonable than other proposed ideas. The club are clearly sellers, no clear franchise pieces, Kyrou is average age and expensive, definitely makes sense to move him and stockpile picks and prospects. I’m sure they think Neighbors, Buchnevich, Kyrou, and Parayko are their core but it’s really not good enough imo. I would offload and try to find a new core to build around.

I’ve been banging the Kyrou drum but I could see The Blues setting the price including a prospect GMCP isn’t willing to deal and not budging. They’re not in a position where they have to move him.

Could probably buy Dylan Holloway for cheap if theyre shopping the Blues. After the season hes having, I think its a system issue over there and think he’d excel on a team like ours.

Kyrou please and no thanks to the Breadman.

    Kyrou yes. Panarin hell nah.

Panarin would make since if we were cup contenders and needed that extra high value piece that that came with the bad trade off of age and contract. But we’re not cup contenders so the better option would be going with Kyrou who is younger and a easy 5×8 year contract to swallow where Panarin is 35 making a probably 5×11 year high value contract (which I’m assuming is what they want) a high risk.

Kyrou imo is probably the best piece we can get to be our corner stone winger while the young guys come up.

If we get Kyrou, and then get anywhere near the return on investment production-wise that we got with Chychrun and Dubois like the post mentions, we’re immediately contenders

I like the idea of Kyrou, but I think it’ll cost a lot more than some people here realize.

Panarin has better stats over a longer career but Kyrous age makes way more sense. I’d much prefer they try to get him from St Louis.

I’m a Missouri transplant. I loved watching Oshie here in DC. The Caps and Blues have shared some pretty special players. Frankly, Kyrou would probably benefit from a change of scenery too.

I’ve been starting to wonder if big midseason trades are overrated. Looking back at the 2018 team that won the cup everyone on that team was either drafted by the org, traded for in the offseason, or were Free Agents save Kempney who was acquired for a late 3rd round pick.

Even our current key contributors acquired in trades were all acquired in the offseason with PLD, Chychrun, Thompson, and Sourdif.

Who knows. Maybe I’m just destined to forever be haunted by the Martin Erat trade.

Still if they have to swing big would much rather have Kyrou.

    I’m in agreement on Kyrou.

My only concern is that over Protas’s smaller sample size he is a similar point producer but Jordan gets paid a lot more.

Does that screw up the salary structure or is Kyrou that much better than Protas (maybe not “better” but more valuable)?
