Another Alvin and Rutherford special.
Ya he’s done 🙁
Chytil really needs to take a long hard look at retiring. He is gonna have a real shit life if he keeps getting more and more concussions.
At least hes finally being seen by a head coach. I’ll see myself out…
Mods removing my post because I have a twitter link in the description is so stupid lmao
110+ comments before they removed it.
Great trade boys. Our number 1 for a injury prone number 3.
Guy who gets migraines here, including exercise induced ones, that got way worse following head injuries.
The treatment options today are way better than even 10 years ago. CGRP blockers, Botox, etc. They have made an incredible difference in my day to day life, and are obviously encouraging as a way to treat the guy.
With that being said, coming back to NHL play when your brain is tapping out is a really scary prospect.
I’m sure at this stage he knows LTIR is an option. It comes down to the fact that the guy wants to play. I admire that, I just think at the absolute minimum he should not risk his health for a dead season.
So JT miller for M Petey and Mancini…
Absolute tragedy what Chytils career is, but damn, I wish we had another lottery pick in the pipeline tn
He should really think long and hard about the quality of his life and overall health after the NHL.
Ugh, I hope the Canucks or even NHL look after this guys health for CTE long term even after he retires
bro, i would really like to see him healthy, is a great player but just retire
Playoffs are off the menu again now boys
I feel really bad for the guy. But what a horrible trade that’s turned out to be
Y’all took down that other guys post and reposted it yourselves? Lol
Team needs to stop trying to win trades with players with concussion history.
We still could’ve done better. If we kept the 1st or did something better with it then it would’ve been a decent trade
What a disaster of a trade for both teams.
What doctor allowed him to play again?
I’ve had a multiple concussions playing rugby in my late teens and early 20’s (40’s now).
My family doctor said I was at a high probability of developing Parkinson’s already and that he couldn’t sign off on my passing a medical for sports. That was 20 years ago. My doctor was ahead of the game, no idea how a team doctor can approve someone with his history continuing to play.
Look, I’m not an expert or a doctor although I studied neuroscience and I’ve done papers on CTE as well as talked with some professionals who are in the brain injuries space. This is all just my opinion
This is going to be a pattern that PROBABLY does not go away anytime soon for him. He’s going to be sensitive to head contact or subtle whiplash movements for a long time, if not for the rest of his life. The threshold for him getting symptoms is really low, which is what is seen in people who have extensive concussion or sub concussive hit history. I’m not saying he can never return and not have symptoms, but the odds of that happening are really low. I could seriously see this happening every single time he tries to return. I’ve seen doctors recommending people retiring from sport for a lot less than this. However, every doctor is different, and it is a matter of opinion.
At the end of the day, all doctors can do is recommend him to retire and frankly, I don’t know what doctors are telling him behind the scenes, but it is his decision at the end of the day. They cannot force him to retire unless his symptoms just never go away, and the situation is really dire. The problem is the symptoms are self reported meaning every time it’s reported he’s dealing with symptoms. It’s because he went to a team doctor and told them that it’s happening. That’s what makes dealing with concussions difficult and that’s why a lot of concussions go unreported in professional sports leagues since athletes don’t want to stop playing.
I really hope Chytil has a long sit down with professional medical personnel and his family and really thinks this one through
People at the time knew of Chytil’s head issues so it was a dumb move. Couldn’t they have plucked someone else off the Rangers roster. Secondly, the real stinger is wasting the 1st on Petterson and DoC. Finally, how did Crosby get through his concussion history? Seems like 100 years ago now, but at one point it looked like his career was going to be cooked.
Why did he even come back this year?!
Boys cooked, Time to bring up lekker perm to play with ogh….oh wait Foot would just bench him.
