I just find it so hard to believe that he’s somehow not in shape considering camp was 5 MONTHS AGO.
They’ve gotta drop this shit and move on. Matvei is too goddamn important to this team.
But the other guys are in even better shape now!
Basically by this logic we will have a team full of MacKinnons by next season if they just never stop training
Typical beat around the bush BS sugarcoating lies….typical corporate crap…..another year finishing 20th in the league
I was pro Danny and anti Tocchet but I think I’m done with both now
All Flyers/Philly guys need to be purged from the front office and coaching staff. I’m usually pro having former players in important positions but not with the Flyers. They seem to be infected with some brain rot virus idk. We have a long history of this same issue holding this franchise back. We literally keep doing the same shit over and over expecting different results. Straight insanity.
My sister was an elementary school teacher and she used to say that you could tell which kids had gone to preschool before starting kindergarten, but by 2nd grade or so the advantage was gone. Which isn’t to say all kids are equal, but the advantage of preschool faded out. I think this whole coming to camp out of shape thing is similar. If Matvei is still behind on conditioning, that’s just who he is, or his in-season training isn’t right. It’s not because he was out of shape at camp.
If Michkov was in such bad shape why didn’t they have him sit out and train? Like why waste the whole year instead of going him a couple extra weeks or whatever? Is it because it’s all bullshit? Yes, yes it is.
« one thing I know is how driven he is. He wants to be the best he can be »
Seems to me that someone who’s driven to be the best he can be would actually show up ready for the season.
New era of tired
Very normal situation
Remember back when Jonesy and Danny were introduced? Remember how they said “You’re in for a whole new era of Black and Orange” seriously it’s like “New Era meet Old Era” not much has changed other than we’ve acquired a shit ton of forwards a couple of so-so defence man and a pretty good goalie when he’s not injured. Really it’s not that hard, acquire two good goalies, ones that can steal a couple of games when the team’s playing lacklustre, 4 solid defence men and two good defence men and 9 solid forwards and 3 that are defensively good. And then let your superstars loose, because if you don’t have good goalies you’re fighting an uphill battle. As I’ve said elsewhere who gives a shit if you consistently score 5 goals a night when your goalies let in 6. As others have said you need to bring in someone from outside the organization, and the owners have to cough up some cash to get and keep these players
Welp… I hate to say it but, I think I might be on the fire Danny train. Had some good picks (lucked into some good picks), made some bad picks, has yet to figure out how to get a 1C, 1D or a goalie and hired a dinosaur who won’t play our supposed franchise player of the future.
Unfortunately, we are stuck with Tochett. Fortunately, I feel like he might be the last hire Danny gets to make.
He sounds like a GM who is about to trade Michkov for 2 3rd liners.
