This team is not a Stanley cup winning team. There has been no consistency with this team this year at all, especially being that it is 58 games in. We can barely scratch winning more than 3 in a row. This is not the year with coach Knobby driving this team and his two favourite players, McDrai, into the ground.
Blows me away how may people say fire knoblock. Serious? 2 cup finals after he came on. It’s the overall coaching staff change that is the issue. I’ll say it again Coffey and Guluzan leaving was terrible. Their team system this year is gross
The lack of defensive output from all players is failing this team, and that’s a coaching issue. They’ve put so much emphasis on offensive line matchups while neglecting the defensive side of their game.
Nice that the coach does not throw his players under the bus. The coach is given the players to play from Management Trades, big contracts, draft system, the coach has to deal with what the head management brought to him on the ice. When the Oilers were first in the system, must have been quite something when the Coach was the General Manager, so he could really tune the team and make trades at a whim.
Penalty kill having “gone through a cold stretch“ ( 1:27 ) during the past couple of weeks? Against the Flames, in this week‘s game between the two Alberta NHL teams, the Oilers’ PK was no doubt a disaster, with two goals allowed on that count.
I think the players have given up on the coach everybody blames the bottom two lines but really take a look at it. It’s right from the top. They are absolutely terrible defensively.. by now they should know that defence comes first that creates offense, but not for the Oilers coach. The system totally sucks. You can see things changed big time once Paul coffee left he was the one running the team and they respected him . There has to be changes coming or else the orders will be out in the first round. Just like Leon said is charged from the top and he was pointing straight to the top.
We need the Olympic bullshit out of the way first off! We need to play all players…………with exception of 10,88. I think regula could play better than nurse if he saw more consistent ice time, nurse makes maybe one play a game worthy of mentioning. Top lines are not focused right now, olyimpics are outside noise and it’s plain as day distracting. D side of things needs a new voice for sure!
