I figured they’d be holding Freddie out ahead of the Olympics, but I like that they’re giving Bussi consecutive starts now and not just throwing him to the proverbial wolves in game 1 of the playoffs.

It’s really the perfect time to see how well he does on a « run » with days off between. Gives us a good idea of how he might handle such a schedule during the playoffs, before a long break so we can take what we see and make any adjustments, and early enough in the season we can make those adjustments if needed.

wonder what ehlers thinks of being banished to the third line with offensively limited linemates

In the title I saw Bussi, a number, and an X and I got all excited that we extended him. Got my hopes up for nothing😭although I’m certainly not complaining about this either

Honestly, I keep coming back to wanting the Staal line being our 4th line and function like a grinding line with Carrier on it. That line is a 4th line forechecking hammer that way. Ehlers should be with higher skill players. There have been multiple instances where he’s gotten Staal or Marty the puck and they just don’t have the skill to capitalize on that rush play style like stank and Blake do. Hall on a line with Jank and KK feels more akin to a 3rd line.

    Svechnikov – Aho – Jarvis
    Ehlers – Stankoven – Blake
    Hall – Jankowski – KK
    Carrier – Staal – Martinook
