I’m guessing that he was given a retirement option by Post Media. Too bad, always liked Wes.

Curious what he’s got planned. Still relatively young.
I’ve enjoyed his work, so bummed to see him go, but he’s done a good job for a long time and has earned a break if he wants one.

So who do we still have for beat writers then? The Capirals just permanently lost theirs beat writer yesterday so hopefully we still have someone.

He’s 42. I doubt he’s retiring.
Hope he lands on his feet, always liked his balanced coverage of the flames. Decent enough guy too, at least he was 24 years ago when I went to highschool with him.

And we lose another. Our roster of decent reporters covering the team is getting awfully thin

Unfortunately media in Canada is dying. I know as someone currently unemployed after a layoff from a large news media company in Canada. Sports is the first to go, companies that don’t hold rights see it as expendable. Especially as sites like nhl com on. I don’t know Wes’ story, but facing layoff everyday or cutbacks impacts your psyche. I wish him the best, he’s a great writer. But I understand wanting to have control over your future.

Let’s be honest. The day of the armchair quarterback talking on the radio or a small podcast is over. Useless facts. Info we can get faster then he can even say it.

So, obviously it was him that injured Huberdeau

He’d be great on the Athletic

Disappointing to hear this. As if the Fan 960 hasn’t been crippled enough…yeeesh.
Steinberg is the only good one left now. Pretty brutal.
