Wow. The headline admits it’s a pointless article.

If they do nothing I won’t be upset. I’d like to get rid of laine as I don’t see the fit but I wouldn’t pay to do so.

They aren’t gonna win the cup this year give everyone more experience evaluate the team again and wait till next year

All our players seem to be doing there part ,hate to see someone traded or sat right now

person hired to do a job, does his job. More at 5

Interesting, I thought he would only explore half of the possibilities available. Could this mean he might consider options over the coming weeks?

  6. this is really ground breaking stuff. It would be bigger news if a team GM/President wasn’t actively trying to improve his team.

We talk a long about finding a top 6 forward, but seriously, I think they need to find a tough, nasty, rugged right hand D-Man to play with Hutson. The kind of player we hoped Arber would become, but it look like it’s not gonna happen and Struble is too much a reliability to take this chair.
I don’t know who could fit the bill (Schneider in NY could be a great pick but unlikely), any suggestion?

Person with job is doing his job. News at 11.

Every year the same headline x32. Nothing new ever

I haven’t read this article but these headlines are so silly. Might as well name the article « Habs Gorton doing his job »

The people commenting that have only read the title is a fascinating phenomenon.

Laine for some prospect. Im sure he can be useful to teams who needs a rental

Rebuilding pieces aren’t often added at deadlines, they’re usually short-term pieces to compete immediately for that playoff run.

We’re still away from being a legit cup threat, and I don’t think one piece changes that, and probably sets us back further if we’re giving away pieces.

The only real opportunity I’d jump on is if there’s an expiring young enough UFA that a team is getting rid of and we think we had a chance to sign long term and they can either slide in at 2C or Suzuki and Caufield’s wing.

  14. Much better than my strategy which would be to explore 0 possibilities ahead of the trade deadline

Get an upgrade on Arber and someone who can step up in case someone on the back end gets injured. Playoffs are rough you need depth on the back end.

a mid tier defensive D man hopefully with a cup or cup run and hopefully UFA or UFA next year.

Up front the team is pretty full. Find a way to move Laine to get some cap bucks but once healthy the roster is set. Maybe get another 4th liner with some roughness and find a way to send Bolduc and Veleno down to Laval to help them with their playoff run.

    Dont trust Toronto Media.

I know it sounds cynical, and i dont mean all media, but last year you had toronto sports talk advocating for montreal to trade Caulfield to Vancouver for EP.

Trade Hutson for McDavid and Drai?

Adding Thomas despite the price it would cost, wouldn’t ruin our future moves. It just would be the last major move we could make for 2 year span, the other moves would have to require great pro scouting.
