#Hockey

Im a little surprised “they” let people skate on the reflecting pool – granted its public property and whatnot.

Looks like a lot of fun!

It would be so cool to do a Winter Classic here

Respect for the goalie skates. I swapped with my tendie at practice once and it was a nightmare.

I was there yesterday too! I unfortunately didn’t have my skates as I’m from out of town or I would’ve joined. I’m incredibly jealous!

My dad told me that back in the day (the 1980s) DC police would chase them off the reflecting pool because there was an ordinance that stated ice had to be so many inches thick for people to skate on it. The depth of the reflecting pool was less than that – so even though the whole thing was frozen, it still didn’t meet the criteria.

Dad said it never stopped him and they quite a bit of skating there when it froze over (until us kids were born). I wonder if our dads were ever playing hockey there at the same time! haha

Imagine sniping one off the crossbar and having the puck ricochet into Lincoln’s forehead

We skated at Constitutional Gardens years ago but the Park Rangers kicked us off.  Yesterday they were doing a photoshoot out there with the people from Medstar Iceplex from 2-5 so I guess times have changed.  Remember there is always the canal and the poop ice!

Huh, well that’s pretty neat. Never considered the possibility

I’ve always wondered what the furthest south in the US a pond hockey game has been played.

Regardless of current administration, that’s an elite ODR

That’s awesome. So glad you got to do that before China cancels hockey
