Il s’agissait de la toute première défaite olympique du Canada. Ils ont remporté 4 médailles d’or d’affilée avant cela. Le gardien de but britannique Jimmy Foster n’a accordé que 3 buts en 7 matchs. Le Canada a perdu 2-1 alors que la Grande-Bretagne a marqué avec environ 12 secondes à jouer en troisième. La Grande-Bretagne a ensuite remporté l’or.
