I say, trade Em Bernie young guys up from the Marley skid them an opportunity that's the problem with this organization. They don't get these young guys enough opportunity to prove themselves. I keep the young guys, nick robinson, and so forth.Get younger, not older, never know.We might get some guys on free agents.This year, either not top line, but some good nhl players are still available out there
Get some younger Ontario or Canadian players. Guys like Nylander and Matthews desire to win a Stanley Cup are not a high priority for them.
Right now, Leafs have no foundation, they have zero…..but wait? what about Mathews?…the captain provides no leadership?….what about Nylander? shows up in important games, cant win them on his own. There is little leadership, there is just this mess of various players who really dont live up to expectations. I would rather see the team blown up, because right now, barring major change, next season is going to be another poor season, and nobody wants a repeat of this season, althought at this point in time it is looking like it will be………….
The Oilers don’t have a first rounder til 27 and I can’t think of a young prospect they can offer for a top 4 defenceman or top 6 winger. Can we at least try to win a trade instead of just dumping good players for very little

Trade Reilly for a concession attendant from the opposing team, will be a fair trade.
Trade them all and do a proper retool. Target the right players in free agency and approach this properly, not the Leafs way, which hasn’t worked, Darius alluded to it earlier, about not getting picks or assets. It’s only one year, just do the right thing, and Leafs fans know, it’s the right thing!

Getting 1st round picks doesn’t make sense unless you are doing a full rebuild.
By all accounts they are doing a retool to maximize the Matthews/Nylander window.
Therefore, all of McMann, OEL, Rielly, Laughton, Roy, Domi etc should be available (you won’t trade them all)
The return should be 21-25 year old players who can contribute right away (for a push this year with more minutes or next year)
Anaheim: Mintyukov, Lunneau
Edmonton: Howard, Savoie, Akey
Detroit: Kasper, Danielson, Sandin-Pelikka
San Jose: Graf, Ferraro, Misa?
Dallas: Bourque
Montreal: Reinbacher, Beck, Hage?
Tampa: O’Rielly, Geekie
That’s the right type of target – who’s not a top 6/top 4 on their team but has that potential and the youth to actually realize it
It will cost far more to reacquire an OEL, ROY or McMann on those cheap contracts. Yes you need to extend the UFAs or trade them for very good near NHL players. The Leafs will need their first round picks back first. Ultimately they need to fleece a team like the leafs last year and get a top prospect and a 1st round pick. Obviously Edmonton wants Stecher back. More likely you need to trade with a team with excess good young players who want to make the playoffs. Mathews has only two years left. Trading him would get you a huge haul. It is too late to save this. He does not have the will to win. He would excell as a fringe player on a good team.

Trade McMann, one of Roy/Laughton, Rielly, OEL, Carlo, Stollarz. You could get at least four 1st rounders and a handful of prospects. Reset with prospects and FA's in the summer. Two year plan. Get ready to take a run in 2028.
I don't want Tree trading for players. He has bad vision and has failed repeatesly. Build this team with our elite draft and develop program.

Everyone in here saying trade oel and Laughton seriously has 0 clue. Laughton is the only guy on the team with heart, he’s Toronto born and loves playing here. Laughton should be moved to the second line he looked really good there. Oel ( besides Tanev) has been the best defensive man we had in yearsss and what was the leafs biggest issue goaltending and defence, we fix that and everyone is saying trade trade. Roy yes I agree to trading him, he hasn’t been what we thought and expected of him, jarnkrok needs to go he’s been the biggest pylon on the ice besides Reilly, which moves me to my next point. Reilly has to go if he wants to leave with respect he will waive his ntc and we will have a standing ovation when he returns. Carlo needs to go big body but barely hits and seen him fight 1-2 times since he’s been here. Domi not a trade option, if your a true leaf fan then you know that Domi picks up mid season, he fights when needed and has heart, he’s also our best playmaker on the team. I’m a huge fan of Lorentz I am but he should be shopped as well, the team needs a hard hitting take no bs type player which I thought we would have in Lorentz. Sign Robertson don’t lose him he’s a great player and will excel. Now moving to goalies, storlaz was hurt for half the season, first game back looked like he wasn’t quite ready and was forced to come back. He’s our best goalie by far and moving him would be the biggest mistake especially giving wolls play as of late, woll should be on the trade block not stolarz. The team is missing heart and grit and determination. Biggest mistake the leafs made this year( besides marner) was letting Ryan reeves walk, what no one gets is he’s not there to score goals, he’s there to show to the other teams I’m here and if you touch any of our players your going to see me. Look how soft the leafs are now, injury after injury, but when reeves was here how many players were injured minus Matthews ailing injury and nylanders headaches?

At the end of the season, both Treiliving and Berube need to be replaced. Shanaplan looked for a quick fix and did not take more time to find a better suited coach and gm, but at the same time waited too long with certain players that needed to be traded before their no move clause kicked in.

If this is a retool and they decide to trade Bobby McMann, Treliving should be fired. Who TF cares about a late 1st for Bobby?? A rebuild would be trading Matthews and Nylander is the only way I’d trade Bobby but they aren’t doing that so leave Bobby McMann alone. You guys drive me crazy, it’s absolutely dumb to trade another Hyman type player that has heart. Just stop. McMann is worth the 5M he will be getting. I’m willing to openly debate this McMann situation because I’m so sick of hearing this
