The dream rebuild. DuPont isn’t expected to go 1st but he is supposed to be the one of the best puck moving dman in the last couple of drafts (who does that remind me of 😔). Maddox Schultz is projected to be a solid 1st Overall pick, assuming he keeps his current trajectory, like a Celebrini level talent.
Takes alot more than 3 guys for a rebuild to be over. Realistically, you need atleast 7-9 absolute dawgs. Then the rest of the roster can’t be shmucks either, there can’t really be that much of a fall-off from your top 6 fwds top 3 dmen and goalies to the top 9, top 4/5 and backup goalie.
Teams that are built to win are stacked 1 through 21 AND they consistently pick great prospects that they can use on ELCs and move out older, expensive players to keep a group competitive.
Quite annoyed at the fascination of lottery picks when it takes so much more than that to win a cup.
We had a group of 5-6 special young players and we saw what happens when they have to do it all by themselves night in/night out with plugs staffing the rest of the roster.
