This was definitely not controversial at the time and definitely isn’t controversial now
Although I thought TK should’ve gotten it then and think he should have it now, still a ton of respect for Coots and everything he’s done for this team up to this point
Should have been TK, Coots just hasn’t been the leader we all expected him to be
Buy him out. I love Couts but he is holding us back now.
Really thought he was the right choice at the time. I can’t say it’s gone as I expected lol, so far anyway.

Too bad his career has turned out like this. He was really great for us from the first 9 or so years of his career. I have a feeling hes one injury away from being LTIR’d forever
Wonder if he is the type of person to be self aware enough that it might time to step down. It’s not so much his play, it’s the reports that he is not vocal in the locker room/doesn’t hold players accountable. Which is understandable if you don’t believe your play is good enough to criticize someone else.
I think he was the right choice at the time but I don’t think we’ll be looking back on his time as captain fondly. Not entirely his fault but… yeah.
It just seems like he is mentally checked out most nights and doesn’t give a shit. Not a characteristic you want in a captain
He is a terrible Captain.

I’d love to see the Venn Diagram of fans who thought TK should be Captain over Coots and fans who thought Briere should have traded TK.
The timing of this was so weird. Regardless of who you thought should be captain, naming him in mid February a week or so before a giant nhl marque game was weird. Especially after going the whole season with just 1 alt captain and saying “we’re not ready to name guys yet”
