Mon autre option serait d’aller chercher Mathieu Olivier
Twitter told me Laine is going to LA so let’s see if that happens.
Laine will be gone, there’s no space for him on the team anymore and we could use the cap space.
Other than that unless there’s an amazing opportunity that presents itself like Thomas that requires roster player(s), picks and prospects we hold pat
Kapanen is my biggest surprise this year. Plays important minutes as a two way center. He is still a rookie and was PPG in the SHL last year. Moved from top9c potential to top6c potential.
With Newhook coming back as another lefty centre option, I think Veleno’s days are numbered.
They have too many bodies.
I hope they can sell a player before the deadline.
I’m fine with keeping the team as-is especially when we consider Texier will take Velenos spot and Newhook will return at some point.
We’re at a point where any upgrade would require 1-2 roster players going the other way for cap and roster management purposes.
If you can find a legit upgrade on Dach or Kapanen I think you do it but if not, let’s hope we get decent goaltending and roll with what we have
I just noticed the bottom of the Habs red jersey is exactly the same pattern as the Russian flag
Where is Texier
Cole you belong on Team USA ugh
Well with Newhook coming back and most likely taking Veleno’s spot as a left shot who can play center if need be and take draws I just don’t see how we fit any new players without multiple bodies going the other way. Texier doesn’t even have a spot in the starting lineup unless him and Gallagher switch in and out every game. I lowkey hope Struble is on his way out because Engstrom 100% deserves to be up here with us compared to Struble.
Caufield – Suzuki – Dach |
Slaf – Kapanen – Demidov |
Newhook – Evans – Bolduc |
Anderson – Danault – Gallagher/Texier
Hutson – Dobson |
Matheson – Guhle |
Engstrom/Xhekaj – Carrier
Mark my words, Dobson will be on the next Olympic roster for Canada.
These images with the Kapanen Finland jersey really made it stand out just how important this amazing rookie is for us. 2C, PP2 and PK1. He’s a rookie at that. What is his ceiling? Crazy how he sneaky got lost in all the Demidov rookie hype
Edit: wrongfully though Bolduc could clear waiver.
Brother
3rd line will probably end up being Newhook – Evans – Bolduc/Texier, with the rest as pictured.
I’d like to see the 2nd PP unit with Newhook and Texier in place of Gally and Bolduc as well. I’d suggest we use Dobson and Xhekaj for a unit focused on one-T’s and a more straightforward approach of shots and rebounds, but I know they aren’t going to give Xhekaj that opportunity and there’s a good chance of hurting Dach. :p
I don’t know how motivated we should be to make any trades other than moving Laine.
The only considerations, imo, are:
Acquiring a 2C. Trickle down effect of bumping Kapanen down to the 3rd line and adding congestion to the bottom 6. You’re basically capping Kapanen in that scenario and telling him he’s not going to be a 2C. We should probably give him more time to cook, but for someone like Thomas who is already legitimate, it might require a quick decision.
Including Dach in a trade for a top line winger. This is only if we aren’t willing to risk keeping Dach due to his injury history. Someone who is better currently, but with a healthier track record, may be a smarter move.
A RHD. A mobile top 4 shut down defender capable of playing with Hutson. This would be a bold, defining move and I’m not endorsing it, but it makes sense (to a degree). Guhle becomes 3rd LHD, one of Struble or Xhekaj is gone with the other left as a bench warmer (only suiting up for injuries) and one of Carrier or Reinbacher finishes it off.
Practically any move which makes sense, has a significant impact on our trajectory. Which is why I don’t expect anything major. We aren’t at a definitive point that warrants a shift yet. That can change as some players hit UFA, so next year after seeing some playoff action and evaluating through next season, we can make better decisions.
Wild take, but what if they try to put Newhook with Kapanen and Demidov, like at the beginning of the year? With that move, they can put Salf with Suzuki-Caufield and Dach would be on the right of the third line with Bolduc on the left side and Evans at Center. Veleno and Laine out and Blais and Texier as extra forward
