@Wild du Minnesota

With this Contract the Wild couldn’t find and better value with any trade

  2. murraymail

I can’t imagine this gets done without impact player(s) going back to the devils. Wally, picks and prospects doesn’t equal “hockey trade”

I don’t see a trade fit unless NJ way overvalues guys like Yurov and Wally tbh. We used up all of our assets for the better Hughes

If they want Boldy hell no. He’s worth more than Jack to us simply because he stays healthy.

Wallstedt +Brodin (as a salary dump) and prospects could get it done. Not huge on losing either but to get Jack Hughes you have to give up quite a bit

This doesn’t seem like a Jack Hughes signal. A « hockey trade » is typically a 1 for 1 between NHL players isn’t it?

Trading Jack Hughes would be blowing everything up and committing to rebuild, not « send a message »

The Devils have a number of players who play significant minutes that they would trade before Jack Hughes. Jesper Bratt, Dawson Mercer, Timo Meier, Dougie Hamilton – hell, they’d probably rather trade Nico Hischier over Hughes.

Regarding any package for Hughes and the Devils, they already have Markstrom – an Olympian who got more playing time over Wallstedt, I don’t know why they’d be interested in that.

Not trying to deliberately shit on you OP, sorry, but I don’t see how this works.

Everyone can laugh at me when I’m proven wrong tho, no worries

I did find it odd that the devils scratched him the last couple games before the Olympics seemingly for health, then in Milan practices was said, full go, no limitations.

If it does happen right out of the Olympics, NJ must have wanted to reduce risk of an injury.

It seems basically impossible for the Wild to trade for Jack Hughes.

I think the Devils will trade him elsewhere so they aren’t hamstrung by his desire to team up with Quinn

this is more a Dougie Hamilton signal than a Jack Hughes signal

  11. Rockyyyyy85

Sending a message is NOT trading a franchise cornerstone. I interpret it as perhaps Timo Meier getting moved, as he has lots of value right now.

  12. improvor

I worry about trading Wallstedt at this time. I feel like Gus Bus is having a down year, and I’m not sure how he would fare in the playoffs alone.

  13. InsideMyScars

This screams they’re trading Jesper Bratt, not Jack Hughes

  14. McK-Juicy

I read this as they might be aggressive in adding…

  15. XjohnstamosX

100% gonna be Bratt or Mercer. Probably for a more PF type player.

  16. Loukoal117

I really don’t want to but we will give up Ben Jones, Tyler Pitlick, and a fifth round pick for Jack. It’s really fucking us over though and NJ should be jumping at the chance.

  17. fastal_12147

Somehow I don’t think they meant trading Jack

  18. AllenMpls

It would take Boldy or Faber + Wally and maybe more.

Not happening. We are not making this team worse for J. Hughes.

  19. Aggravating_Click495

How did you get “I think the Devils are looking to trade Jack Hughes” out of that tweet?

  20. RecommendationOk4148

Back with this Dougie Hamilton bs again.

  21. yaboiCM4

Buium, Rossi, Ohgren and a first maybe gets it done for Hughes

  22. Obvious-Property-236

Canucks fan here, we’re gonna try to swap F Elias Pettersson to the devils for Jack Hughes and flip him to you guys, you in?

  23. mikropjm

i love quinn but i do hate that having him brings along all this speculation about his brothers, neither of whom i particularly care about trading for

  24. itsallgood013

A hockey trade means if this was about Hughes they’d want equal NHL talent in return. Which we don’t have the ability to offer.

  25. Potential-Gift

sending a message is not trading your star player and entering a rebuild

  26. librariesgaveuspower

    How does this signal that??!!

  27. WideGap6125

Between contract and value he brings theres not single player I’d trade Matt Boldy for right now

  28. Cooodemaan

If James Murphy is Jimmy Murphy the Bruins writer, nothing he says has ever been true..
