Damn, he’s been showing out with Abby, so this sucks. Hopefully he can recover and come to camp next year to try to fight for a spot with the big club.

  2. pluralsight24

Canucks and injury prone prospects are the best duo since the Sedins

    All the best to Lekk

  3. carry-on_replacement

i think it might be time to consider if Lekkerimaki should be considered injury prone. So not only does he have conditioning, speed, and physicality against him, he has injuries and illnesses that seem to plague him on a constant basis.

  4. BoomMcFuggins

    The Canucks are cursed.

Is it the Messier Maki 11 curse?

  5. Aggravating-Rush9029

The rebuild is going to take more than 2 years Jim.

  6. Bnorm71

Well he needed a big off-season of training and this is gonna derail that. This very well could be the killer for his NHL career. Unfortunately time to write him off, and if it happens great but he can’t be relied upon as a legit prospect anymore.

  7. Careless_Classroom79

Is he a bust? Has been lighting it up in Abby but can’t seem to make the smooth transition to the nhl

  8. Nier_Perfect

Man this is some next level tanking to have two players taken down from injury during the break.

  9. CapnPositivity

That’s actually bonkers. This kid needs to bulk up – he has the constitution of a soggy cardboard box

  10. No-Luck-At-All

He hasn’t even made the NHL yet, and already he is injury prone. Not looking good.

  11. niht_awl

I didn’t even know he had a shoulder injury??

  12. jmike1256

The Canucks are just really cursed at this point

  13. I wonder if this is the same shoulder that was hurt a few months ago and they never fully looked at it properly

  14. Dangerous-Finance-67

Guy has bust written all over him.

  15. Letsbeguin

Are the Canucks pulling a Utah Jazz?

  16. nightshift31

Canucks can’t catch a break unless it’s a players limb

  17. Alarmed_House23

    Canucks is a cursed organisation

  18. NerdPunch

I’ve been having durability concerns with Lekkeremakki for a while now. Seems like anytime he starts to get momentum, some type of injury/illness derails him.

And for a player whose biggest question marks are developing NHL-level strength & athleticism this isn’t going to help.

It just isn’t going to be easy to make it to the NHL with such a slender frame, and you’re not going to be able to handle the wear/tear of an 82 game season.

  19. Guy who mostly has a shot going for him needs shoulder surgery, well this bodes well

  20. crap4you

Ever since Adam Gaudette got traded, the team has been injury prone. Bring back his crystals!

  21. LIL_DROP13

The only NHL team to have two players injured out during the break

  22. slothropdroptop

Another win for Canucks’ medical team! At what point is there an audit?

  23. allsportsfan

This is what happens when a prospect is weaker than his opponents. You’re more likely going to get injured. He needs time to rehab then get stronger, that’s the biggest issue for him to be a full time NHLer, he’s got the offensive Skill, he needs to get stronger and work on hia NHL awareness.

  24. phantomgiratina

What happened, like last time he scored two goals in abbby and now he’s having season ending surgery

  25. Strict-Caterpillar38

This is actually diabolical, I’m at a loss for words, we are beyond cursed. All Lekk needed was a long, healthy offseason to get stronger. What is wrong with this team?

  26. Hopefully it doesn’t mess up his offseason training.

  27. First off, sucks for him. Guy must be bummed since it seemed like he would get an extended look later this season.

That said, there are a few guys that were drafted behind Lekkerimaki who are starting to emerge, Ostlund and Yurov come to mind.

The cupboards are so bare with this team that the org can’t afford potential misses. This may get downvoted but it’s not even a foregone conclusion that Cootes was the correct choice over Reschny.

  28. bob_gordonisawesome

    Can’t have shit in Vancouver

  29. -T-Reks-

Canucks: consistently prioritize smaller, weaker players with scoring upside

    players end up injured

Canucks fans: « We are cursed! »

  30. OneChet

Oh FFS. If this kid had been healthy all year he would have gotten such an opportunity, man.

  31. Snowflake10000000

To me he is example A of why a training facility is beneficial.
