I need a break from international best on best. I think I shaved years off of my life over the past week.

Well only two years until the World Cup… allegedly

Juniors coming up soon, no?

I 100% agree but at the same time I do want the competitive spirit to be high when they play each other (regarding four nations). Sometimes less is better. I’m also grieving the Olympics being over though so don’t listen to anything I’m saying.

We get the World Cup of Hockey in 2028

I feel overwhelmed with all these finals I’ve been invested in (jays, whitecaps, Seahawks, Canada). I need some Canucks hockey.

The problem is, as with the outdoor games if you keep going back to the same well, eventually the water starts to dry up and become less enjoyable. I can’t help but think that the best on best tournaments are similar in that sense. Look at the World Cup of Soccer/Football, it is every four years and that makes it special on a much larger scale.
Also very rarely do players get injured in all star events and the Olympics/Four Nations/WCOH/Canada Cup always have a star player get injured and that can destroy a NHL teams chances.

Instead of Eastern vs Western Conference or w/e they do these days, why not just group it by nation? Even for just the skills competition, that would create more hype for the fans than « Pacific Division » or what not, right?
Also, instead of an all-star game where everyone is just coasting around and trying not to injure each other, how about a series of 3v3 mini-matches in a tournament format or something? That would be interesting, right?
