Hughes definitely would have brought Dobson instead of Parayko.
He might have also had a word with the coaching staff on their terrible player usage.

3 on 3 is not it
A lot of bad decisions by Team Canada management.
Wilson, Bennett, Marchand, Horvat, Parayko, Doughty…
Scheifele, Bedard, Johnston, Chychrun, Schaefer, Bouchard, Dobson left home.
Let’s hope Kent Hughes is part of Team Canada in 2030.
One can only hope. I would have brought Dobson, Schaefer, and Bouchard instead of Doughty, Parayko, and Sanheim. Doughty is old and the other two are big for no reason. As soon as that game was going to 3v3 (which teams knew it would) I knew the Americans were likely to win when they had much better defenders suited for 3v3 and the Canadians only had Makar. Toews could have been paired with Bouchard to insulate him, if Morrisey hadn’t have gotten injured he and Dobson would have formed a great pair. Finally, team Canada had the chance to pair together Schaefer and Makar.
Never seen such a talented team play with such little chemistry. Even then the chances they left on the table is what cost them. The talent was so overwhelming that they should have won the game. And that’s not the best team they could have brought either.
He needs to find a goalie
Im thinking that the Team Canada front office should just be a full time job on its own. Similar to how soccer does it with managers for the national team.
Yes grit and toughness was a non factor in this tournament. Wilson, Bennett (so bad), Marchand were legit not useful.

The silver lining of this loss is that it will force change. Fewer boomer decisions, and a new wave of young talent across the board

This could be a very real possibility, Brisbois is still the Canadian king for GMs, but I’d have Hughes right there behind him at this point
