This shouldn’t even be news. Who cares. It doesn’t mean anything other than going to celebrate an incredible victory

Is he going to miss our game over this, cause if so…

Just when I was starting to like Jack. You can go fuck yourself now.

Not surprised at all. Just a reminder almost anything can happen in this country and it will still just be « your views » or « politics » to a lot of privileged ppl when it comes to simple, black and white, basic moral convictions. It ain’t 2016 anymore and no you can’t go to the white house and be apolitical. Wish we were in a time like that but we’re not.

Sorry Jack but this ain’t it 🤷

He said, « The White House ».

I hope that means they’re not going to the State of The Union until 10pm and sit there like props while Trump raves about tariffs for 2 hours.

I hope it’s a quick reception early in the day no different than any championship White House visit. I can live with that.

If this doesn’t bother you, it means everything Trump stands for and does – does not bother you. Which means morally you are repugnant and selfish enough to not be affected by the way this man has literally done countless things to ruin people’s lives.

So you do you Jack, and most of this comment section, but someday I hope you look in the mirror and see yourselves for what you are. Complicit.

The thing is, in general across US history, athletes visiting the WH is usually seen as party and policy neutral. Olympians especially have visited the President since time immemorial. You could argue that this President and WH are different — and there’s a good argument to be made there — but in general it’s seen as neutral.

OTOH the State if the Union speech has never been politically neutral. It’s literally the executive branch of one party talking in a partisan way about their agenda for the country and arguing for it to continue. It’s a policy sales speech and always has been. There’s no reason for an Olympic hockey team to be there, except to be used as nationalist trophies.

If it were me (and admittedly — it’s not — I’m just a random beer league player), I would politely bow out. Visiting the WH is one thing, but I don’t think you can attend the SOTU without getting politics mixed up in your hockey. And the Olympics are supposed to be for all Americans, regardless of policy and politics — not to be used as a dog and pony show by one party or another.

A president with his name plastered all over the Epstein files is not about politics or someone’s ‘views » at all, sorry to break it you

They’re all man children. I’m done rooting for them

Not what I would do, but I get it. For Jack and Quinn however, I see another side to it. This dude made a crack at having to invite the team their mom coached, like that’s a fucking joke. How do you publicly laugh at what your mom accomplished?
