RE Girard, as I thought about it more, it totally makes sense for them to trade Girard but how on earth did no team offer a better package than what Dubas negotiated? Surely there is a team that has a similar player to Kulak with a similar salary that a team would have been fine offering a straight up 1 for 1 trade? Mind boggling that the Avs had to add a pick.

Is anyone still having lingering doubts about what happens after 87/71/58 hang it up? Obviously you’ll be hard pressed to replace their production 1 for 1, but you can see the vision where that isn’t exactly going to be necessary.
Let’s just say even right now Sid is out for a few weeks. Its not like even a few years ago where he was carrying the entire team on his back. They should still be able to compete at a high level with how this roster is constructed until he returns.

Time to trade Rakell. L1’s been poor most of the year. Rust and Rakell’s 5v5 P/P60 are below top-six level. They just get a ton of minutes and it makes their points look better.
Lessons should be learned from 2021 vs the Isles where the 1st line wasn’t playing well going into the playoffs and were a -3 in the series. It got us eliminated just as much as Jarry did.
Rakell isn’t needed for PP1 either. We have Kindel, who’s better at it.
Lafreniere would be a fine replacement. I could see the Rangers dealing him in their re-tool. He never misses games. He was a beast in his last playoffs. He knows how to play with good players. Over the last 3 years he is 13th among RW’ers in even-strength points.
I realize he’s overpaid, but we have tons of cap space moving forward. That’s not a problem.
And that’s also gonna lower the cost of acquisition.
Just trade Rakell to another team and use the pick you get to acquire Laf.
It makes the team younger too, obviously.

I wasn’t too thrilled about the trade today, but after listening to Mark Madden today, I flipped. He broke it down as this:
We traded Jars and his contract and got Kulack and now Girard plus 2 second rounders. Which is actually an amazing job by Dubas.
I was wondering if the trade meant that Sid will be out longer term and playoffs might slip away if so. Cause Kulack fit in nice with Letang and was playing well.
