No surprise coming from Craig, lost too many brain cells in that gym accident

  2. Expert-Bar-4703

Guess he’s as dumb as he coaches

  3. GettingBlaisedd

“Very disappointed the American who was captain of the American team met the American President” – things this guy was never going to say

  4. RudeTudeDude_

All that really needs to be said. Unfortunately, here on Reddit, a person is only good if they agree with every opinion you have.

  5. entityXD32

The team literally approved Matthews going what did you expect him to say. Ask anyone in the organization and they’re gonna say the same thing

  6. Kinglokner16

Nothing anybody says about this is shocking, I always lived by what Charles Barkley said

“I am not a role model… Just because I dunk a basketball doesn’t mean I should raise your kids”

  7. reddit35257

Fire him (I promise this is the only reason)

  8. LongjumpingDiver8773

You really don’t have to give me any more reasons to dislike Berube but sure I’ll take another one.

  9. danielo121

Bet the mods really wish Canada won the that gold and not because they are Canadians just because they have had to delete 500 posts full of hate

  10. StrygwyrSuperstar

Surprised how worked up leafs nation is about team USA captain going to the White House.

  11. james-HIMself

Berube continuing to be a loser? Not surprising

  12. Is it a great honour to be used as a propaganda tool by a group of pedophiles and grifters?

  13. TheLordJiminyCricket

What exactly is honourable about pedophilia?

  14. Baron_of_Foss

Somebody should just calmly ask these guys how do you reconcile the annexing Canada plan with shaking Trump’s hand?

  15. McRoshiburgito

Can we take a second to understand that Crosby offered this same sentiment in 2017? I think the White House is a historic place and it would be great to see the inside, Berube’s not wrong… but I’m gonna take a hard stance here and say that I, for one, would not shake hands with a rapist pedophile.

Hockey has always been an insulated sport. It is expensive from day one. Ice time equipment travel teams private coaching. If you want to reach the top you need serious money.

Look at how many NHL players are sons of former NHL players they have access and networks. Compare that to European soccer, clubs run academies and subsidize talent from all backgrounds. The pathway is broader and more diverse.

You see it in how leaders speak. Pep Guardiola has openly addressed politics in Spain, spoken about Catalonia, and taken positions on social issues. Mikel Arteta has talked about culture leadership and values at Arsenal beyond just tactics and results. You hear thoughtful answers about society and responsibility, not just the game.

Craig Berube by contrast gives standard hockey answers. The boys need to play harder. We got to get the puck in deep … and so on. All cliches, no personality

This is one of the many reason I no longer seriously follow NHL

  17. DrowningPickle

I would have rather gone party with Flava flav and the women’s team. Not some smelly diapered pedo.
Come on guys. Have some balls.

  18. 1completecatastrophy

I will still continue to be a fan of the team, that won’t ever change. I can also have opinions about what the players do and not like it but still want to watch the team. I personally would not want to shake hands with that rapist pedo dictator, and I don’t understand how anybody would but that’s just me. Players can justify it however they want, it’s their life. But I disagree with their decision. Anyway Go leafs go

  19. Spandexcelly

Berube with the classic ‘average non-redditor’ take.

  20. Loose-Dream7901

TDS is out of control, this will be why Matthews leaves. A new cycle of complaining and finger pointing will come true.

The mods on this sub did a terrible job here. The entire board full of political non sense

  21. Northern_Ontario

Is Austin going to get Boo’d from fans?

  22. falloutvaultboy

Is it? What honor is to be had from a dictator

  23. LazyTeletubbies

With the world we’re in today, going to see Trump, shaking his hand and smiling like you’re a 5yr old meeting your idol is a disgusting image to the rest of the world. Im embarrassed to be a fan of Auston and this has drastically changed my outlook on him.

And for the idiots who said “keep politics out of sports”. These clowns got drunk with the head of FBI minutes after the game, laughed at a dumb joke from Trump and then went to meet and greet him. I don’t give a shit if your name isn’t in the files but if you support him. Then in my eyes you are part of the cult and support all the shit he’s done to kids.
F*** Auston and anyone supporting that administration.

  24. LividBeach5364

Honestly fuck these guys. We’re an awful team and now it’s pretty clear we’ve got some awful people. Trade AM, fire Berube, and put the C back on Tavares

  25. Guymongoose431

I tend to agree that it would be a huge honour to go to the White House for an American athlete whether they agree with the politics of the President or not.

  26. Correct-Shine-1692

Can we stop pretending this was an Olympic ceremony. This was no different than attending a trump rally imo.

  27. pigsmasher666

I’m sorry is there anyone who isn’t a subservient Cuck in this entire league?
