@Wild du Minnesota

Too much for a team in the division

  2. FlqckDaddy

I’d do this. Not often a 1C like Thomas is available

  3. Panarin10

Obviously, Thomas. I think it would take more though.

Easiest yes of BG’s life if this was on the table.

I wouldn’t be jazzed about sending Wally to the Blues, but I’d take this trade. The reality though is that what they are asking for is far beyond this, rumor is it’s on the same level as the Hughes trade. That would mean they’d probably want Yurov added to the package.

And give the Blues Wallstedt? No thanks.

That seems too little for Thomas. If that gets him I’d be ecstatic.

Too much for him considering how good and young Wally is.

Trading Wally would be a mistake, imo.

I say yes, but I doubt St Louis does

Jesus Christ, this is not even remotely enough for Rutherford to give up Robert Thomas

  12. Active-Tomatillo-522

This is an easy yes, which is why the Blues wouldn’t do it. Thomas is a 26 y/o 1C locked up for term on a good contract. That’s just about the most valuable type of asset a team can have

  13. Goose312

100% do that. There would have to be more moving pieces due to Thomas’s cap hit. But you get a legit 1C at 26 with 5 years left on a beauty of a contract to align perfectly with the Wild’s contending window? Easy choice, also probably makes Hughes’s decision to extend much simpler.

Yea no chance we’re sending wally to the blues. Get real

I will not be super happy if we give up Wally. Hlavaj’s stock went up after his performance in the Olympics. He’d be a solid part of a package. If we give up Wally and a 1st, the guy coming this way better wear 86…

That is too much. Always seem tough to gauge trade value, as the Wild always end up overpaying it seems compared to what others get for even their high end players. While right now the Q. Hughes deal is working out really nicely it was always interesting to hear that the Wild offer was their first and only offer, while others were offering not only less return in number of players but lower quality as well. But the Wild seem to have a history in that. A few times it was moving roster numbers to open space if needed due to some LTIR, etc.

If it was last year, the Stramel might not seem like a hit of a pick, but this season at NCAA he has been making the pick look solid, and I think that should carry enough weight. In essence you are giving a goalie that is on a low value deal currently that would most likely be a every-day starter in a good portion of the league if they had him, a high value prospect center with upside of 1C/2C, and a 1st round pick that would make it another year without a 1st rounder after we traded 2026 away as well.

Understand 1C are highly touted and can pull value, but even then that seems that the believed value on Stramel and Wallstadt is low. Some could argue that a NHL-now goalie that has starter ability and is better than almost any backup currently could be considered similar valuable. At most I would not want to see any more than Either Wally and the pick or Stramel and the pick. Putting all 3 together seems excessive.

    Umm no

I don’t want to see Wally go anywhere personally

  18. dbergman23

    Keep Wallstedt

Stramel is looking like he might be a legit center option, so packaging him with a Goalie of the future is dumb. Stramel Jirichek, 1st and 2nd would be fine.

  19. WantToTypeComments55

if you can do this, you do it; if you can’t, fallback to the Trocheck proposal

  20. nicclys

I love Vinny, but that’s steep. I think we can do it with Hartman, a first and a late rounder. Maaaybe the Olympics boosts his stock upwards enough but if Stramel is on the table it better be for a Thomas type player. Same if Wally’s name is out there.

  21. One_Win_6185

Obligatory caps fan, come in peace, get recommended this sub a lot now yada yada yada…
But after the Olympics I think you guys should be less precious about Wallstedt. Hlavaj was awesome for Slovakia and would be a fine call up. I didn’t realize he was in your system and previously I thought you should hold onto Wallstedt.

Whether that means using him to go for Thomas or whoever is another question.
