Any chance this is similar to other injuries we’ve had and he can come back maybe a little quicker than expected? I am trying to cope.

ugh minimum…I hope we can just push through this time and still make a strong push when he comes back. anything can happen in the playoffs!

I’m genuinely so upset over this. First home game in almost 15 years next weekend for me and he’s on IR.
If we don’t make the playoffs I’m gonna fist fight Gudas in a Dennys.

Honestly, the top line wasn’t getting it done prior to the break and we still strung together wins. I’m confident in the rest of this lineup, let’s just hope it’s Avery injected into the lineup and not Kevin.

They’re done, and it sucks. Without Sid, they’re going to be out of a playoff spot within the next 2 weeks with the freaking schedule they’re facing.

If history has taught us anything it is time for Geno to now carry us to the playoffs.
Im here for it

It’s Geno after a break, he’s gonna be cooking.

This is rough. I’m anti NHLers in the olympics and I will die on that hill. Another thing about NHLers in the olympics is it kind of ruins the competitiveness of the tournament too. The gold medal game was always gonna be US and Canada, because, well, it’s all NHL players when the other nations are mostly just guys not good enough for the NHL.

They have 5 games before the trade deadline. If they stumble out of the gate, Dubas may look to make some additional moves. this team has performed well over expectations this year, beyond expectations. Let’s not lose focus on the future. they’ve gotta get younger and faster. As someone mentioned the first line has tapered off recently we need to make some changes.

Fucking Gudas. Sucks we don’t get to play Anaheim again either.

The NHL was rocked today with announcements from opposite sides of the USA. In Pittsburgh, GM Kyle Dubas let Penguins fans know that future HOF center Sidney Crosby will be on Injured Reserve for at least four weeks.
Crosby, at 38, was averaging a point a game before his injury in the Olympics.
In Anaheim, the Ducks released a statement that Radko Gudas has died suddenly from « Polonium poisoning under mysterious circumstances ».
Neither organization would comment on whether the two were related.

« Expected » and « will » are not synonyms. Could be more than four weeks, could be less. All we know for sure is that it will be at least seven days.
Geez. This is a shame. But, it could be so, so much worse (at least, that’s what I was thinking when I saw the injury). It’s not good, but I feel a tiny bit relieved.

Not a pens fan, am a proud Canadian however. This is truly disheartening to hear. The worst part being this will only be ammunition used in 4 years by owners as to why they don’t want their players going to the Olympics. 🙁

LTIR into the playoffs if the team doesn’t implode. Any big fish out there this deadline?

Sucks but I still want the pros in the international games.

I may be in the minority…but i think it is good that sid will have maybe 4 weeks off…Hopefully comes back energized…its not like he was lighting it up pre olympics…last 6 games..0 goals and 2 assists and the team still went 4-2…rest up sid

Yinz should be glad – this means he didn’t tear his ACL. Source: I tore mine at 45, and I wasn’t doing much four weeks after surgery besides crutching to PT.
