An insane problem to have when we’ve also extended 2 of our top 3 centers over the last 9 months and now have that center core locked up for 3 more years.

Pretty evident at this point that Briere & Jones have been utter failures, but that’s no surprise. That’s what you get when you make Angelo Cataldi’s former co-host your Team President, and hired a former fan favorite, who spent the majority of his management career in the ECHL, to be the GM. Fucking clowns.
He refused to bottom out and get a horse. Now it’s mission impossible to find a top 6 center, unfortunately flyers need two.

We are approaching 3 years since the current front office got hired and we still have no answers on how we can fill the glaring needs this roster have in order for it to actually be competitive. That is honestly impressive.

I’m becoming more and more convinced to just give the blues whatever they want that isn’t Martone and MM for Robert Thomas.
Reality is that these young wings we’re accumulating aren’t going to reach their full potential without a solid 1C anchoring the line. Dvorak is a fine enough 2C, Cates has potential, but isn’t that guy, we’re unfortunately probably never going to see the Couturier from a few years ago, between injury and age. Cupboard is pretty bare, in my opinion, on our center prospect pool. I don’t have a ton of confidence in either Luchanko or Nesbitt to turn into a bonafide 1C (and it’s a fantastic problem to have if they do).
Thomas is 26, a great fit for what this team needs offensively, and is on a pretty decent contract in terms of AAV and term. It’d be a lot of assets to ship out when we seemingly need them more than ever, but given the center market, seems like a gamble worth taking.

Flyers are going backwards. This franchise cares about marketing and merchandising. They do not care about winning.
