@Capitals de Washington

    Eh, yeah it isn’t a good thing but it also means that we may be a bit more rested to finish out the year as we have less miles to go to the finish line. But yeah in terms of where we are at in the standings it isn’t great.

    They only have four back-to-backs remaining (which is good) and a lot of two and three day rest gaps

    We are ranked 17th in the leauge in terms of strength of schedule (points % of opponents left). The pens are 1st (the hardest schedule), jackets are 5th, were definitely still in it, its not going to be an easy ride but if we keep playing hard there’s a very real chance we can knock someone out of a spot. A decent number of teams ahead of us have much harder schedules than us

    If I squint my eyes at this picture all I can see is that the caps are at the top of the league

    Hell yeah, go caps

    I feel like the Caps are always one of the teams that plays more games than everyone else for most of the year. Obviously the Pens and Jackets having two of the toughest schedules left helps, and we’ll have a bit more rest between games, but I do think that the underwhelming season results can’t necessarily be blamed on having played the most games

    With so many games left this is absolutely a good thing. This would be a problem if we had 10 to play and still out of the postseason.

    I figure we’re gonna need at lesst 95 points to make the playoffs, seeing as the record for most points to miss is 96. So we’re going to need 28 pts out of a possible 44. I feel like that’s very doable.

    We’ll take the penguins spot. They have a significantly tougher schedule on the back stretch and Sid is out for 4+ weeks. We’ll be alright

    I was looking at this as well this morning and didn’t realize how close so many teams are in it. Comes down to if, if you want the playoffs you are gonna have to earn it.

    I feel at some point during the season, every team plays the most amount of games in the league.

    getting all the big boys back from injuries big and small I think we are going to be one of the stronger bubble teams, especially with Sid out for the pens. LT was sharp last night, pro was sharp, PLD looked great for a first game back, D played great i thought… I’m optimistic. Trade deadline going to be a stressor

    2 games each vs BOS BUF and PIT. Need to win 4+ of those games and/or NYI needs to lose some games.

    Those 7 OTL’s are gonna haunt us for eternity.

    Who are we kidding though, if this team makes it they aren’t going anywhere…

    not a good thing for the previous 4+ months, but not a bad thing for the next 4+ either.

    Hate to put it on one player but something tells me that if Thompson plays consistently well as he has most of the season we should be able to squeek into the playoffs.
