Figured as much otherwise it woulda happened already

  2. joeroganisbi

He has three young kids I wouldn’t blame him for rejecting anything

  3. Jazzy_Beat

Tbh, I don’t hold this against him. Plus one of his sons has a disability and obviously he wishes to be close to them.

Now if Seattle comes knocking, that might change things

  4. Sarcastic__

Not totally surprising given it’s far. Everyone knows Myers is available now though and seems to be willing to consider his options. Canucks should get more offers they can work with and present to him to think about.

  5. jwong728

I dont blame him. If I had a young family, I probably would only he interested in Dallas, Colorado, Carolina, Tampa, the team’s that actually have a chance at a cup, not Detroit. Wonder if he would waive to Seattle?

  6. forrunner

I always thought if he would wave it would make more sense to do it next year anyways. Sounds like the motivation is mostly family reasons so obviously much less time in another city. Seems like a no brainer to me

  7. littleochre

He wants to stay, that’s why he showed up and skated despite being left off the roster. Must be hard to have management ask you to consider leaving the place you want to be. Luckily he doesn’t have to.

  8. BlurTriX

I wouldn’t want to play with Larkin either

  9. Hellosweetparadox

I respect his decision and whole heartedly welcome his decision and happy he is choosing family, city and team over whatever the fuck is happening in the states.

It would be nice to have a decent pick but can’t blame dude for putting his family first. Hopefully he doesn’t hate us for asking him to consider the trade cuz he’s loved here by the fan base

  11. Voltage604

There aren’t many players I would forgive for not waiving during a rebuild but this is one of them.

He came here and has been a great Canuck. He has done everything the organization has asked of him and always represented the team well.

I want guys here who want to be here.

  12. wallnutxjames

Good I bet he took one look at what they offered for him and said “No thanks, I can get more for the Canucks from someone else.” What a good guy Myers is

  13. Ktowncanuck

I don’t mind Myers on the team tbh. He loves Vancouver, I can respect that especially with how lousy the team currently is.

  14. Whitetailer6

    Keep him.
Sign him again to finish out his career.

  15. Strange-Moment-9685

Good for him. Signing a team friendly contract to get a NMC and hearing that his family doesn’t want to move and stay where they are. Your wife is settled with were you live, makes roots for her and her career, and you have 3 young kids who made friends in the career and are settled on in day care/pre school and school and you get asked to up root that when you negotiated a NMC on a friendly contract. I’d probably say no too. He’s older and probably gunna hang it up soon. Probably wants to do it here now his life is settled here with his family.

  16. _PNW_EXPRESS_

Myers will be traded this offseason when his family is out of school and more appropriate plans can be made to have schooling set up at their new destination.

  17. What a coincidence; I, too, am disinterested in joining the Red Wings.

  18. Apprehensive-Tea4881

He’s like we have a tank to finish.

  19. mistermarpole

He’s near the end. Top contender or bust.

  20. UnsubstantialGoat

I’m not mad about it. He’s a vet player exercising his contractual rights.

Management needs to move on and focus on actively shipping out other players.

  21. chronicallyillsyl

I hope he doesn’t leave. I can’t help but love chaos giraffe.

  22. ChatamKay

I don’t think Detroit is a legit contender. If he’s leaving he should chase a cup. He’s been a great Canuck. If he’s leaving I hope he wins it all.

  23. outofnowhere1010

The only way he considers right now is if it’s close to home …Seattle , Edmonton or a legit cup contender this year .

  24. Robscoe604

I would love for Myers to be able to retire here. It’s 100% up to him if he gets moved or not and I respect that, he’s an all around great guy and universally loved amongst his team mates, great guy to have around young players.

  25. No-Reach3106

Disappointed we won’t get anything from a trade but I think everyone saw this coming from a mile away. He’s a great culture guy and leader so not a big deal at all.

  26. This guy is a true Canuck, willing to go down with the ship

  27. SammyMaudlin

This guy has been nothing but a class act since he arrived in Vancouver almost 7 years ago. How many consecutive coaches in that period played this guy big minutes every night? And he took a discount for his current NMC contract. He wants to be here.

I can’t really think of any reason why you wouldn’t want to keep this guy around. Even for a second. I think that he has a couple of years left and is a stabilizing influence on the young D corps. Hronek and Myers together would be a great influence on a young D.

  28. BigBirdsBrain

i get why people want to make it about cup odds but if you’ve got young kids and one with extra needs, stability probably matters more than chasing a long shot. hard to fault the guy

  29. Ok-Turn5582

He should wait until the summer. Family comes first before team.

  30. Poo_hawk

Detroit offered a 2nd + Amadeus Lombardi apparently

  31. I’m just saying, we need to get a Tyler Myers chant going this next game so he knows how much he’s appreciated by this fan base. In the scenario where he does accept a trade, he should get a good send off.

  32. Putrid-Bath-470

Whether Myers’ reasons are personal or professional, it’s nice to know he wants to stay on the sinking ship for now.

  33. idunnowuthai

He took a pay cut to stay here. Don’t blame him for wanting to stay

  34. Euphoric_Impress1282

    I think he’s uninterested.

  35. Professional-Rip7395

He signed a NMC. He has the full right to not go somewhere. Can’t be mad at that.

  36. EverySecondCountss

Fair. I can’t imagine wanting to go anywhere in the states if I was him unless it has sunshine and maybe in California..

He has a family rooted here, and I honestly would just want him to retire a Canuck but if we did get a good trade offer for him, you have to do it for the future of the team.

  37. Warm_Masterpiece3940

Dallas has interest, hopefully the buck up for the big guy

  38. TheGreatNathan

Seems like management is trying to get him to waive his NMC, but I don’t think he was ever interested in moving.

  39. Successful-Plan114

Finishes the season and says « Trade me? No, I’ll retire… as a Canuck. » And then promptly retires.

  40. xeromagic

Detroit as a city is a pretty big change from living on the west coast. Besides the red wings playoff hopes I feel this decision might come down to the city, lifestyle, and his family

  41. therealbeef

Chaos Giraffe is the only vet I don’t care to move. The rest of them ✌🏻don’t let the door hit ya on the way out.

  42. intelligentx5

I feel like you need Vets that can guide young players during a rebuild. He may be chaos on the ice but he seems like a class act and genuine guy. Someone that could mentor and help prospects.
