@Maple Leafs de Toronto

But should we be sellers at the deadline though?

But then we lose an unprotected 28 first, which could be even riskier with an older core, rather finish in the teens/miss playoffs and recoup a late first

1st overall pick* and that doesn’t make our situation better, since the two first round picks we traded get pushed back a year on each one, and they will be unprotected at that point.

Best you can hope for in that situation is a Top 5 pick this year, and hoping we’re back to being a top team for the following 2 years. That’s a big gamble.

Can’t believe we’re looking up at the Flames.

Time to trade Matthew’s, that trump loving prick.

Right now Toronto has about a 6.4% chance at a top 3 pick, and a 93.6 for Boston to keep the Leafs pick (11th-13th overall likely)

I hope we lose every game the rest of the way.

I was hopeful coming out of the break with Matthews coming off the gold and everyone else being healthy and ready but I was sorely mistaken lol

I guarantee that we will look back on this deadline as the year we should have blown it up. Matthews value will never be higher, Tavares is the perfect veteran piece for a contending team, especially with his amazing contract and is going to get older really soon. Rielly, though flawed, is a former captain and would be an amazing 2nd pairing guy for a team, especially if we retain half of his salary. If we moved those three guys for young pieces and picks, we would guarantee a top 5 pick. We might not win another game.

This reminds me of the Raptors after we won the championship. There is a finite space where a proper rebuild/retool happens, and if you miss that window, you are basically screwed.

The Carlo trade is our worst trade in a long time. The only way it doesn’t turn into a complete travesty is if we can recoup a first from Carlo and Boston doesn’t hit with whomever they pick. But we both know Boston is going to draft a superstar defensemen with it because that is how the world operates.

Bottom out, build around knies, Cowan and danford

    That minten trade was horrendous.

I’m in the camp that hopes we give up the pick this year. Hopefully it’s like 10 or later. I don’t want to think about a 2028 unprotected first for the next 2 years and how bad this team is.

Keep key pieces and blow up the rest
    Time for a reset

Can’t keep moving forward with this coach. Ride out the season as I’m sure it’ll be terrible or we hire an interim to tank even further. Revisit Deboer or some other smart coach in the offseason.

Get rid of Tree, hire someone like Gorton, or promote Pridham if it makes sense.

Most important thing right now is getting assets for expiring UFAs, nothing else matters. Don’t care about resigning anyone because at the end of the day our expiring UFAs aren’t needle movers.

We don’t get the 1st rounder back, we defer giving it away. We’re still losing a 1st no matter what.

Sell off Laughton and McMann recoup some picks it’s not like they make or break us getting into the playoffs. Can’t do business on the fear of the bruins getting a better pick.

That minten trade is always going to hurt sigh
